Sony can straight up delete your PlayStation account if you don’t use it for 3 years.

According to their Terms of Service, if your account stays inactive for 36 months, they can start closing it. They’ll send you an email and give you 6 months to log in, but if you ignore it, your account gets deleted — and with it, all your digital games and purchases disappear forever.

This isn’t even new, it’s been in their terms for years (especially in Europe). It’s just another reminder that when everything goes digital, you don’t actually own shit.
