Today, in partnership with @SwedeninRW, we signed an innovative portfolio guarantee agreement with @imbankrw to bolster the growth and resilience of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in #Rwanda by offering a financial safety net covering up to 70% of MSMEs financing needs.

Under this strategic partnership, @AFRwanda will oversee the implementation of the portfolio guarantee scheme, collect, and share learnings, evaluate the impact, and provide technical assistance to the partner Financial Institution to better serve the targeted MSMEs.

Sectors to benefit from the guarantee include agriculture, environmentally sustainable management, light manufacturing, logistics, ICT, export-oriented SMEs, tourism and hospitality, renewable energy, and circular economy.

Our CEO @jbiyacu underlined that this is the first client-centric portfolio guarantee scheme in Rwanda adequately designed with market actors to address collateral constraints faced by youth and women-owned MSMEs and those located in rural areas.
