Today’s American History Lesson: Puerto Rico has been part of the U.S. since 1898, and Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917 🇵🇷 🇺🇸
We’ve cheered many non-Americans at the #SuperBowl. Bad Bunny isn’t one of them.

so happy for my papasito benito but i really need well-intentioned liberals to understand that his story is not about immigration and the american dream. it’s about success DESPITE american colonization. it’s about making it big, and still being able to call puerto rico home.
Trump really watched one of the biggest global artists perform in front of 120 million people and decided his main complaint was “I don’t understand Spanish.”
That sentence alone shows you everything. It’s not about the performance quality. It’s about the fact that it wasn’t in English, wasn’t catering to his version of “American,” and represented a culture he doesn’t value.
Bad Bunny is one of the most streamed artists on the planet. He sells out stadiums. He’s a cultural force. But because Trump doesn’t personally understand the language, suddenly it’s “not American enough” for the Super Bowl.
This is the same man who claims to love success, yet can’t recognize that Bad Bunny IS success. The man built an empire without compromising his language or his culture. That’s actually the American dream - except when it’s not white and English-speaking, apparently.
And calling the dancing “disgusting”? That’s not criticism. That’s just thinly veiled racism dressed up as patriotism.
Puerto Rico is part of America. Bad Bunny representing his island on that stage wasn’t a political statement. It was a fact. But Trump’s reaction proves that for some people, “Make America Great Again” really just means “Keep America familiar to me.”
The performance wasn’t the problem. The discomfort with Latino excellence was.
Bad Bunny said “God Bless America” then brought out the flag of EVERY country in the American Continent to remind gringos the world doesn’t revolve around YOU
¿Se fijaron en el nombre de los tacos?
Villa’s tacos.
Pancho Villa ha sido la única persona que ha invadido Estados Unidos con su División del Norte.
El medio tiempo de Bad Bunny estuvo cargado de simbolismos.
Grande, Benito.
