Do you think it's ok to have an online persona that's different than the way you represent yourself IRL? What if it's just a job to you and you are making money from your online persona? At what point are people good at acting versus it affecting their mental health?
Perfect example of how the internet is distracting: going down the Google rabbit hole of 'how to play Little Big Planet', instead of finishing the actual reading
It used to. This is the reality: the fancy car they are standing in front of is not theirs, vacation pics are recycled for months (or years), the bank of mom & dad pay the bills, and out of 1000 likes and comments only 5-10 come from people who actually care about you. https://t.co/iKq4cHZPv5
It's not just social media- if you own a laptop, smartphone, TV, GPS, the list goes on, your life is not private. Our lives have not been private for the last 15 years+ and we had no say in it.
What kind of guidelines do you all think should be added to what is considered technology misuse/digital etiquette? For me, there's a needed disconnect between work & personal time. Don't text me on Saturday night and expect it to be done at 9am Monday morning. #lesson4#educ307
@kayla_caspi I do this too! Love seeing what's going on around me and around the world. It's also a way to check up on friends and family who are in other cities, experiencing things like hurricanes or floods, or festivals and celebrations.
@iodice_anthony It comes down to digital citizenship. If you know how to use it, and can evaluate when to step away, or reflect on how to use it in a more positive way, then it can be an amazing tool.
@Mana72195525 I think it's fine to showcase different facets & interests of our personalities, but the issue is when its falsified. Overly face tunned bodies, fake destinations in backgrounds, & unattainable lifestyles are glorified and do more harm to us psychologically than we may realize.
Just realized Turkle may have been right about robots becoming our friends, when I exclaimed 'Thanks girl!' after my Alexa device notified me of an Amazon delivery.๐คฆโโ๏ธ

In 6th grade I learned Quebec geography through a video game. We had to select the city on a map. The computer gave us points for correct answers & speed of answer. I liked it because it was different than a typical lecture. Anyone else play something like this?

@NigoghossianL Especially since when viewing social media, my attention span is lower. This might translate the same way if learning is done through social media. How can we learn when we are getting more and more used to 280 characters and 60 second videos?

I wonder what Clark & Kozma would think of today's COVID learning environment, where students and teachers are being pushed into virtual learning. Are instructors ready to fully use CBI, and are students able to effectively learn?

Hi everyone! I'm in my last year @jmsbconcordia and taking Educ 307 as an elective. I'm currently employed as a corporate trainer, so very interested to see what this course has to offer me personally, and if there's anything new I can apply to my training modules.
