For those following my travels, I made it to my grandmother’s bedside and have been spending time w/ family. Filed a complaint w/ American. Waiting for response/resolution.
@Amyjo81682544@AmericanAir We bought fares & selected seats. We upgraded to priority seating for return to ensure we’d be seated together, but not an option for departure. We did NOT decide to wait. We agreed to sit separately. Then, we were denied boarding. Flight was overbooked.
@Amyjo81682544@AmericanAir We also DID buy fares that allowed for seat selection, but the flight was overbooked. See screenshots for @AmericanAir policy on involuntary denied boarding.
@Amyjo81682544@AmericanAir We paid extra to be seated together for the return flight. That wasn’t an option for the flight there, but @AmericanAir policy said we’d be seated together WITHOUT paying extra.
@Amyjo81682544@AmericanAir@USDOT I think the airlines should handle it, not put the onus on passengers to move. We also booked in advance. AA’s policy is to put kids under 14 w/ parents.
Last row, boarding a new flight 11 hours later after we arrived early for our original flight that @AmericanAir prohibited us from boarding when we asked to sit w/ our 3 yo. No compensation or even food vouchers. #PaxEx@USDOT
