Got a nice depth camera installed. This will give me access to features like anchored AR overlays, 3D mapping, hand gesture recognition, and better object and person tracking.
Also updated the board a little (donโt worry Iโll cut down the wiring)
The wiring exposure has been cut down immensely by either lining the components within the inner shell or offloading them to a piece on the chest rig. Iโve also dropped the head weight by 80%!!
Iโve got a depth camera + IMUs otw to gain the ability to pin things in real space.
After a week break with family, finally getting back to work on improving the hardware.
Have a lot of things planned for the next few weeks on the BMS and computing housing.
As well as cutting down these annoying wires.
V1 was def way too bulky and not practical.
V2 has cut down a lot of fluff and prioritized space.
Though, I still have a special place in my heart for the first version out of an old lacrosse helmet
Beginning to rework the helmet design to properly hide the wiring.
Also looking into implementing connection to drones. I had my start in engineering building UAVs for the SUAS Air Force competition back in 2021.
Might be time to dust off the boxes ๐
Before I had the Ops-Core Helmet, I stripped an old lacrosse helmet to fit in the VR components and mount the devices.
Pretty cool to see the journey of versions from the very start in early October.
Little sneak peak of the thermal vision and general HUD on the helmet.
Note that the black parts show up as pass-through pixels on the AR glasses. That allows a Picture-in-Picture overlay for the thermal feed.
Working on improving the vertical lines to get a better picture.
@RejectedNPC @A1Anduril Check out my TikTok I have the entire build posted with software demo. Can also see on my GitHub under the HVX repository. Cheers!
