I dont post on here anymore, but this take is disqualifying as #OLP leader.
Nobody should applaud a sociopath - who is supporting and funding anti-democratic actors - while manipulating the stock market to become a TRILLIONARE.
#OntarioLiberal can do better and must.

Can I just point out how funny this is, given the paper is owned by Canada’s wealthiest billionaire family, all of whom inherited their wealth.
Should we hate them for that? Of course not, because that would be gross.
But, it reflects our tall-poppy syndrome at its finest.
Personally, I’m glad that the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan is getting a nice payout, as will many others who took a big risk investing in SpaceX.
I wish we had more audacious entrepreneurs making big bets and generating great jobs and wealth here in Ontario. I want to create an environment that makes it even more likely.
The world is not zero sum. The size of the pie is not fixed. If we make more, everyone can get a big piece.
“I’m happy to go toe to toe with Doug Ford on absolutely any issue, any time. There’s not a debate I will lose to that guy.”

I’m dealing with a family emergency, so I won’t be doing broadcast interviews on the John Davidson Tourette’s tic at the BAFTAs story.
Hearing the N word shouted at two of the most successful black actors in the world, on stage at the BAFTAs and broadcast on the BBC, was horrible. It made people uncomfortable. It should have. But it was an involuntary tic from someone who lives with Tourette’s syndrome. It was not chosen. It was not intentional. It was not an expression of belief.
What’s astonishing is watching people who constantly lecture the public about inclusion suddenly abandon it the moment it becomes complicated. The same voices that demand respect for lived experience are now acting as if a neurodivergent man consciously decided to shout a slur for sport.
Tourette’s is a neurological condition. It is not a political statement. It is not a moral failing. You cannot preach DEI and then punish someone for symptoms of their neurodivergence.
Even the Royal Household has previously understood Davidson’s condition. Not even the late Queen was immune to his tics he said “F*ck the Queen” TO HER FACE. If that reality can be accepted there, it should not be beyond the rest of us.
Two things can be true at once. The word is abhorrent. The tic was involuntary. If your commitment to inclusion collapses when it involves neurodivergence, then it was never inclusion in the first place.
BREAKING: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney blindsides Trump by forming a super alliance of 40 powerful countries to defeat his disastrous MAGA agenda.
Carney has become one of Trump's most brilliant adversaries...
According to Politico, the European Union, composed of 27 nations, as well as a geopolitical bloc of 12 Indo-Pacific countries, have begun negotiations to form one of the largest economic alliances in the entire world. This historic pivot comes as Trump continues to wage erratic tariff wars on close allies, turning the once-stable United States into a deeply unreliable partner.
The talks are being led by Canada and will be the fruit of Carney's vision of a world in which the so-called "middle powers" unite to undermine Trump's tariffs and make themselves immune to his bullying coercion.
If successful — and it certainly appears to be heading in that direction — the supply chains of countries as far off as Canada, Malaysia, and Germany could be intwined into one super supply chain.
“The work is definitely coming along,” a Canadian government official said to POLITICO. “We’ve had very fruitful discussions on it with other partners around the world.”
“We see a lot of value in increasing trade among the EU and [Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership] parties, which would also contribute to enhancing supply chain resilience,” stated a Japanese trade official.
Last month, Carney gave an astonishing speech at the Davos World Economic Forum during which he announced the end of American dominance, stating that the "bargain no longer" works for the rest of the world. American hegemony once offered benefits, now it offers only chaos.
"Let me be direct, we are in the midst of a rupture not a transition," Carney said during that speech. "Over the past two decades a series of crises in finance, health, energy, and geopolitics have laid the bare risks of extreme global integration."
"But more recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as weapons," he said, referring to Trump. "Tariffs as leverage. Financial infrastructures as coercion. Supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited. You cannot live within the lie of mutual benefit through integration when integration becomes the source of your subordination."
He predicted that allied nations would "diversify to hedge against uncertainty" and "rebuild sovereignty" and that's exactly what's happening with this nascent trade alliance. Carney said that the deal will "create a new trading bloc of 1.5 billion people."
Left out in the cold would be the American people, who will be forced to stand by as the citizens of other nations enjoy easier, cheaper access to reliable goods. Trump has made us a world pariah, and the price will be shouldered by your wallet.
“We hope that if that’s a success, if you can see tangible benefits in different areas, that could also entice other countries to join in and team up in a positive sense,” said Klemens Kober, the Director of Trade Policy, EU Customs, Transatlantic Relations at the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
“So the more the merrier," Kober added.
This is what happens when you elect an ignorant conman and give him unilateral power over foreign policy. Trump and his MAGA sycophants thought that the rest of the world would simply roll over as America proceeded to pillaged and ransack their coffers. Instead, they'e banding together to completely shatter the balance of power forever.
Please ❤️ and share if you think that Trump is the worst president in American history!
Watching today’s press conference with the First Ministers and just have to say, as a Canadian, that it makes me proud and reassured that all of these people can sit in the same room and respectfully answer a lot of questions from journalists.
It’s such a refreshing thing to see.
Every day that passes… Mon Mothma’s speech in Andor Season 2 feels uncomfortably close to reality.
"The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest."
Republican Governor of Vermont, Phil Scott:
“Enough. It’s not acceptable for American citizens to be killed by federal agents for exercising their God-given and constitutional rights to protest their government.
At best, these federal immigration operations are a complete failure of coordination of acceptable public safety and law enforcement practices, training, and leadership.
At worst, it’s a deliberate federal intimidation and incitement of American citizens that’s resulting in the murder of Americans. Again, enough is enough.
The president should pause these operations, de-escalate the situation, and reset the federal government’s focus on truly criminal illegal immigrants. In the absence of presidential action, Congress and the courts must step up to restore constitutionality.”
Along with laying out in clear terms the new world we are in, Carney also made a clear investment case for Canada.
He positions Canada as a rare source of stability.
The pitch is not just values, but strength: energy, critical minerals, talent, and deep pools of capital through sophisticated pension funds.
Add to that political and social cohesion, institutional capacity, and a deliberate push to diversify trade and reduce exposure to geopolitical pressure.
In an age of precarity, he is selling Canada as a safe, long-term bet.

Yesterday it was impossible to walk down the street in Davos without people stopping to want to talk about the Orange Man Baby. Today it is @MarkJCarney they want to talk about. Doubtless the OMB will have some petty act of revenge lined up but that speech today was real leadership
For anyone who would like to hear Mark Carney’s outstanding Davos speech in full here it is. This is what true global leadership looks like.
Canada should be immensely proud today, because they are leading the fight back when others dare not.

BREAKING: Republican Congressman Don Bacon announces that he'd "lean" towards impeaching Trump if he proceeds with the "utter buffoonery" of invading Greenland.
And it gets so much worse for MAGA...
"I'll be candid with you: There's so many Republicans mad about this," Bacon told the Omaha World-Herald. "If he went through with the threats, I think it would be the end of his presidency. And he needs to know: The off-ramp is realizing Republicans aren't going to tolerate this and he's going to have to back off. He hates being told no, but in this case, I think Republicans need to be firm."
Bacon's willingness to possibly support impeachment is noteworthy because he voted against impeachment twice during Trump's first disastrous term in office, including in the wake of the deadly January 6th insurrection. His decision to speak out now suggests that Trump's support is waning within his own party as his popularity craters.
"I don't want to give you a definite yes or no, but I would lean that way," Bacon said of impeachment. "It would be a total mistake to invade an ally. It would be catastrophic to our allies and everything. It's just the worst idea ever in my view."
Bacon also explained his support of a House bill that would limit the president's ability to attack a NATO ally. He is the sole Republican co-sponsor.
"I think it should be unnecessary," he said. "It's ridiculous that this has to even be done. But when the president talks about taking Greenland one way or the other way every day this last week or so and that it's unacceptable if Greenland refuses to be part of the United States, I felt like I needed to make a statement that Republicans disagree."
“It’s utter buffoonery to think that we should compel Greenland to be part of the United States,” he continued.
Trump's saber-rattling towards Greenland is one of his most insane and downright stupid blunders to date. He insists that the U.S. needs to seize the Arctic island for "national security," but under existing NATO agreements we can already station our military there. This is about his desperate need to carve out some semblance of a legacy for himself. His domestic policies are imploding our country and so he's grasping at imperialist dreams to convince himself that he's anything other than an abject failure.
"You don't treat allies that way," Bacon said. "You do that with Russia or China, Iran, but don't treat your best friends like a piece of S-H-I-T. That's what he's doing. I think it's totally wrong to treat your best friends like this and bully them."

🇹🇭🇰🇭 THAILAND’S GRIPENS STRIKE FROM ANYWHERE - SWEDEN’S “HIGHWAY FIGHTER” GETS ITS FIRST REAL WAR
Thailand just proved why dispersed air operations aren’t theory anymore.
Their Swedish JAS 39 Gripens - the only jets in combat that can land on a two-lane road - are hitting Cambodian positions while the world learns what “agile basing” actually means.
The Gripen’s been bombing targets alongside F-16s since December 7, when this border war reignited.
But here’s the edge: Thailand tested highway takeoffs in February, proving Saab’s claim that these jets need just 500 meters of pavement.
Cambodia’s firing Chinese PHL-03 rockets and Russian BM-21s from fixed positions.
Thailand’s using jets that can refuel at a highway rest stop, rearm with 6 conscripts, and be airborne in 10 minutes. Every highway becomes an airbase.
F-16s need pristine runways and massive logistics.
Gripens were built for Sweden’s Cold War paranoia - scatter your fighters across rural roads when the Soviets nuke your bases.
Thailand bought that playbook.

In case you were wondering, Pete didn't just ask AI to make him a militant turtle shooting civilians.
Franklin the Turtle is actually a Canadian children's book figure followed by millions of kids. He's also trademarked and copyrighted.
Which means Pete here just opened himself, and the US government at large because of the use of his government account, to exposure for civil liability for copyright and trademark infringement that causes actual damage to a brand. And @KidsCanPress should 100% seek all legal remedies and recompense at its disposal for his abhorrent action turning a children's book character into an advertisement for war crimes.
A whole generation of children is going through an education system that openly advocates for decolonization, that actively seeks to ‘decentre’ western knowledge systems, and that teaches kids the land they stand on isn’t theirs.
This is just one of the public domains in which the left have successfully pushed their ideological agenda, largely unchallenged, with real impacts on our collective future.
And it’s one of the things @GeoffRuss3, @alexbrown17 and I won’t be afraid to talk about at Without Diminishment (@WDiminishment).

The silence of the generals, by Robert B. Hubbell
The most remarkable aspect of Trump’s speech to the assembled generals and admirals of the US military was the silence.
The generals sat in silence.
They sat in silence as Trump slurred and rambled through a “speech” that insulted the intelligence, professionalism, and loyalty of the generals.
They sat in silence as Trump attacked their former commander-in-chief, Joe Biden.
They sat in silence as Trump claimed that the military would use U.S. cities as “training grounds” for waging war against American civilians.
They sat in silence as Trump said he would ask the military to fight “the enemy from within.”
They sat in silence as Hegseth said the generals were free to ignore the law of war and international treaties that separate the US military from barbarians and war criminals.
They sat in silence as Trump said that the Navy should “consider the concept of battleship.”
They sat in silence as Trump wondered aloud why the generals sat in silence.
They sat in silence even after Trump pandered for their applause.
Their silence spoke volumes.
In their silence, the generals affirmed their oaths to defend the Constitution.
In their silence, the generals demonstrated their professionalism, discipline, and judgment.
It could have been otherwise. Trump and Hegseth expected it to be so. In their adolescent fantasies, Trump and Hegseth believed the generals would fête them with standing ovations, chanting, “USA! USA! USA!”
Instead, Trump and Hegseth were humiliated as their unhinged, delusional words slapped sharply against the bare walls and fell to the ground, their lunacy heightened by the silence of the generals.
Without the crutch and cover of cheering crowds, Trump’s mental deterioration was laid bare for all to see. Trump told the generals that the city of Portland “looks like a war zone. . . . unless they’re playing false tapes, this looked like World War II.”
Every general who heard Trump say that Portland “looks like a war zone” knew it was a lie and understood that their Commander-in-Chief is so feeble that he is unable to distinguish between reality and “false tapes” replayed on Fox News.
Every general who watched Pete Hegseth’s peurile speech immediately recognized him as one of the posers and video-game warriors that the generals identify as misfits to be counseled out of the military at the first opportunity.
The generals were not impressed by Trump or Hegseth. The generals are sophisticated, successful professionals who have risen to the top (in part) because of their ability to judge people—the good, the bad, and the flakes. They left the meeting understanding exactly who Trump and Hegseth are.
All Americans should take confidence and comfort from the silence of the generals. Their silence was an act of protest—because their silence exhibited loyalty to the Constitution and respect for the Office of the President, rather than for Donald Trump.
Prior to Trump’s meeting with the generals, dozens of readers forwarded Substack and social media posts claiming that Trump would use the occasion to declare martial law. Other readers sent posts claiming that Trump would administer a loyalty oath requiring fealty to Trump. Still others predicted on-the-spot mass firings and public humiliation of generals perceived to be disloyal.
In his final insult, Trump told the generals they looked like they came out of “central casting.” In doing so, he trivialized and demeaned their accomplishments and professionalism, telling them they were nothing more than props for infantile speeches by men who hold the military in contempt.
And so, the generals sat in silence, depriving Trump of the thing he values most--obsequious adulation.
The silence of the generals spoke volumes.
Ben Shapiro: “The FCC should not be threatening action against ABC or its affiliates or Disney based on Jimmy Kimmel being a jacka**. He’s been a jackla** his entire career. Social censure is perfectly appropriate. The blowback from the public is totally natural and good because Jimmy Kimmel is in fact a schmuck that should have been taken off the air 10 years ago.”
“I do not want the FCC in the business of telling local affiliates that their licenses will be removed if they broadcast material that the FCC deems to be informationally false.”
“Why? Because one day the shoe will be on the other foot.”
