The provision of emergency passport requires you to have a flight booked. You need a passport to book a flight. My friend is trapped and desperate. The embassy does not take calls. There appears to be no appeal. I expected better from a nation I have always admired.

@swedeninuk @SweAmbUK I am an admirer of Sweden and it’s excellent work at Cop26. But am disappointed that it’s visa and passport service is overly bureaucratic, inaccessible and inhumane.

A friend, a Swedish citizen living in the UK, has been trying to renew his passport since Feb 2021. It has been impossible to find an on line appointment slot. Phone calls have been ignored. Now his mother is dying and cannot get to be by her side.

Are there any restrictions to who the governor can appoint. Must it be from the same party? And could it work the other way: Biden appoints a GOP senator with a Dem governor who then appoints either a very moderate replacement or even a Democrat?
