On this date in 1965, a great moment occurred—we're just being honest! 🏛️ The first life-sized Audio-Animatronics® human figure at Disneyland premiered in the "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" attraction.
"Fame is fleeting, Jimothee. Enjoy it for now, but be wary, not everyone who smiles at you is your friend. Remember Peanut."

"Sledgehammer" is Peter Gabriel's biggest solo hit and his only #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The groundbreaking music video, directed by Stephen R. Johnsonwith animation by Aardman (later famous for Wallace & Gromit).
To create the iconic effects, Peter Gabriel spent around 16 hours lying beneath a sheet of glass while animators moved objects frame by frame, with the shoot taking nearly a week to complete. The video won a record nine awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year, and remains the most-played music video in MTV history.
While the Skyliner officially opened in September 2019, the technology behind it traces back to Disney’s original 1956 Skyway at Disneyland.
The company that built the modern system, Austria’s Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, actually merged with Von Roll (the same Swiss company that designed Walt Disney’s first park gondola) meaning that the Skyliner’s lineage is a direct descendant of the Skyway Walt installed more than 60 years earlier.
The Disney Skyliner uses the D-Line detachable monocable technology from Doppelmayr. It is only the second D-Line system in the Americas after the Big Sky Resort’s Ramcharger 8, which opened just months before the Skyliner.
The curved canopy (the “digital bridge” into the Grid) on TRON Lightcycle / Run at the Magic Kingdom is built from 40 separate prefabricated sections forming a 50,000-square-foot structure.
It uses ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) panels, the same high-tech material as the Beijing National Aquatics Centre (“Water Cube”). ETFE is lightweight, highly durable, and translucent, allowing natural daylight to filter through during the day while the structure functions as a massive programmable lighting canvas at night.
Over 1,200 individual lights create dynamic blue/orange hex patterns for the Team Blue vs. Team Orange race theme. The canopy peaks at 105 feet tall.
