The lead candidate to win Hungary's upcoming election, Peter Magyar, says tomorrow a sex tape of him with his then-girlfriend is going to be released, hinting at a Russian-style active measure by Viktor Orban's embattled government. "Yes, I am a 45-year-old man, I have a sex life. With an adult partner," Magyar writes. It all started two years ago. Two years ago, I stood in front of the studio of Hungary’s top political YouTube channel, Partizán. It was cold, and a light rain was falling. I stood at the entrance to the studio for several minutes. I wanted to turn back. I suspected what awaited me if I went in and spoke. But after looking at the photo of my three children on my phone, I started walking up the stairs. I thought to myself that no matter what they did to me, I would not let my sons grow up in a captured country under the rule of a family mafia.
Since then, everything has changed. My life, the lives of my loved ones, and the fate of our homeland too. It was often very difficult, often it seemed like an impossible undertaking. But someone or something always helped us through the hardships. Sometimes it was a smile, sometimes a kind word, sometimes thousands of waving Hungarian flags.
A lot has happened since then. There are 60 days left until the fateful election. Two years ago, this was unimaginable, and now we stand at the gates of victory.
We are strong, prepared, and determined. We have 50,000 volunteers, fantastic experts supporting systemic political change, and our party manifesto is ready. We are ready to take on the responsibility of governing and to build our beloved, shared homeland.
I have been here every step of the way for two years, and no matter what happens, my country can count on me. I will be on the front line. I will be where it is hardest. I will be where the need is greatest.❤️🤍💚
