So what’s happening here is that student enrollment is in decline and the unions want the legislature to limit any competition from private schools for those students because it will impact their bottom line. Fewer public school students, fewer teachers needed, fewer forced dues paying members of the teacher union. This is absolutely not about classroom standards or students or education at all. It’s about the adults who lead the public teacher union and have the ear of legislators. And legislators who don’t care about the educational opportunities for families.
