This is so sad. Ed was an inspirational athlete. The few times I met him he was always kind & generous with his time. We once rowed a pair for maybe 750m and it’s no question that ~42 year old Ed was the strongest and most proficient rower I ever rowed with. Rest In Peace.
It is with a tremendous amount of grief and sadness that we announce the passing of our Editor-in-Chief and friend Ed Winchester. We are shocked and devastated by his passing and wish to express our most thorough condolences to the Winchester family. https://t.co/0GrSnBBn8l
there's a whole host of climate mitigation scenarios that are easy with fossil fuel prices cratered, but what we're most likely gonna get instead is a stimulus that makes expanding refinery capacity essential work
It has been a devastating day in Nova Scotia. To the families of the victims & to those who are still feeling afraid, my heart goes out to you. Know that all Nova Scotians are with you. I want to thank the @RCMPNS for apprehending the suspect & doing their best to protect NSians.
@ianhanomansing I think many of us, in moments of frustration, wish Dr. Henry would go on TV to shame the rule breakers, but she seems to know that it wouldn’t be a good strategy for engendering long term buy-in from the public.
We already have #CanadaPost! Yet the Trudeau govt decided to reward Amazon the deal to distribute essential protective equipment (a company has been repeatedly accused of mistreating workers, not respecting social distancing guidelines, and firing employees who try to unionize).

Intensive care specialist Professor Hugh Montgomery explains why this coronavirus is different from the ordinary flu.
Help us stop the spread of #COVID19 by staying home and social distancing.
Thank you to the incredible Emergency Department (ED) team at VGH for sharing this message. #SocialDistancing#StayHome

Washington state is a good example of the importance of accounting for the number of tests when reporting COVID-19 case counts. Remember I mentioned a couple of days ago how their number of cases in WA had begun to stabilize? Well, guess what happened...

Many people live in crisis at all time. Why not help them?
We can now read the Imperial College report on COVID-19 that led to the extreme measures we've seen in the US this week. Read it; it's terrifying. I'll offer a summary in this thread; please correct me if I've gotten it wrong.

The Boeing Company is currently valued at $70 bil. For a $60 billion bailout, the company should become majority owned by the people of the United States of America.

A loan is not help. A loan is a product, and the lender profits while the recipient pays. Fuck disguising a business opportunity for the banks as humanitarian aid; there's a plague on and these people are trying to juice us like common sharks.
