There are very few variables in how a city functions that have a bigger affect than how citizens travel to work or education each day. People in the business call it transportation “mode share.” When u have only 14% by car, you’re a fundamentally different city than if it’s 80%.

@ccferrie @ccferrie thats an excellent example for side road treatment fir ped and cycle priority. Can you tell me where that is exactly.
Also, are the ramps a patterned/imprinted concrete or paving stones/slabs.

@gerardwalshe @rodericogorman @Fingalcoco @greenparty_ie Gerry, there are jug turns provided on the approaches, so cyclists can merge into the shared area, and walk across the zebra crossing, similar provided at the upgraded toucan crossing where people can stay on their bikes. 👍

@Fingalcoco @MayorofFingal zebra crossing, red SMA Cycle lane buff carriageway, retractable bollards into the school car park to prevent unauthorised acces at drop/collection times, pencil bollards approaching the school, and SUDS treatment with rain gardens to collect run off while enhancing the area

@Fingalcoco @MayorofFingal Peter, its a suite of measures in accordance with the School Zone Design,that include the 5km of protected cycle lanes, the upgrades to all of the minor road junctions to reduce the corner radii 12m to 4.5m,providing pedestrian priority on raised crossings with stop line set back

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 & replaced it with a restored stream & 1000 acre park in the city’s centre, not only did it transform the city’s public life & economic success, but the traffic got better.
