The 1st comprehensive (unauthorized) biography of Kevin Shields & MBV is available for pre-sale on Amazon for delivery on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14th, 2025. Six years in the making, 950 endnotes, and new interviews with key people who helped make it happen. This is the REAL story.
@tnpcollection FWIW, most Jaco fans are unaware of his last project, unreleased before death. Holiday for Pans is really O. Mollineaux's solo project, an amazing steel drum player who toured w/ Jaco. 'Good Morning Anya' was released legally. Get 2001 bootleg of the CD, not 1993. Jaco produced.
@tnpcollection First comment by Mingus to J. - Paprika Plains is out of tune. True. Done over 2 sessions unfortunately. Still a masterpiece. What are the bad songs? And dressing as a character isn't offensive in every context. It depends on many variables and intent IMHO.
@sendvictorious If you are talking of Israel/Palestine, you don't get it. Hamas wants Islam to be the one religion not just in Israel, but everywhere. If you made one state, they'd use every opportunity to kill non-believers. How does one state work then? Even if only 1% was Hamas (they're more)
@tate_mitsuo Hi, I enjoyed Orion. I bought it when I heard Kevin Shields was on it. (I am getting ready to publish a book about him: https://t.co/aSETfpTN52 . Do you know him though Guthrie?
@nytimesarts I've been following you since White Collar and you all made that into a compelling show, with you as the fulcrum. Right there it was so obvious you could do a leading man and others roles I've seen since show you can it all. So glad you got your proper recognition.
@rocking_bob Right on MrStanley. His playing on Loaded is iconic, as is Come Together, or better yet Felt #s; Space Blues, Grey Streets, Under a Pale Light, Poem of the River, S Lady Load, Berry's Firefly is perfect. Think Vince Guaradi at his best or any style at its best. He did it all.
@thebanderson Hi, I was reading your article from 2012 calling Kevin Shields out for announcing every week that his next recording was just around the corner. I enjoyed it. I'm four years into a book on Shields, (or 30 years depending on how you want to look at it.)
