BREAKING: A recently arrived immigrant from Afghanistan has been charged after police found Islamic State beheading videos on his phone.

Mohammad Emad Uddin Ahmadzai, 31, was arrested at Melbourne Airport while trying to fly to Afghanistan.

AFP charged him with possessing violent extremist material and refusing to give police access to his devices.

A May raid on the home he shared with his brother seized phones and a tablet.

Forensic analysis later allegedly found graphic videos of beheadings, throat cuttings, a hostage shot in the head at close range, images of mass casualties, dead children and ISIS flags and logos.

He is the sixth Afghan man charged in Melbourne from the same group chat.
