@xiaochang@luke_stark@tamigraph Also agree that "algorithm" feels less prominent in ML than eg "model," although "model studies" is probably too overloaded. Kind of feel like "algorithm" is just the easiest shorthand for "computer" and we may be terminologically cursed as a result.
@xiaochang@luke_stark@tamigraph I feel like people who use "algorithm" usually want to write about socially significant computational systems, but I also get the sense that "algorithm" in CS often signals a move away from concrete systems towards mathematical abstractions.
