Really disappointing- a threat in both boxes, leadership, much major tournament experience. And beyond all that, on his defensive performances alone should be in the conversation for starting 11, not just the squad. Cannot believe he doesn’t even make a 26. Bonkers
I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.
I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.
I wish the players, all the best this summer 🏴
Senne Lammens is one of the best pound-for-pound signings this season and its about time we sing his praises louder. Yet another top class performance today. I can't fathom how comfortable he looks given his lack of experience. 23 playing like he's 33. Monster.
#MCIARS – 83'
The referee’s call of no red card was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the action from Gabriel deemed not to be excessively aggressive or violent.
Fans will probably be a bit miffed that VAR John Brooks intervened for a violent conduct red card for Lisandro Martinez for a bit of a hair pull.
But decided Gabriel pushing his forehead into Erling Haaland's face was "not excessively aggressive or violent".
No Maguire, Martinez, De Ligt or Yoro, but #MUFC kept a clean sheet.
Mazraoui did well out of position, Dalot + Shaw were strong at full-back, special mention though for Heaven, 19 years old yet plays with a composure much older. Never looks fazed.
@AdamJoseph Also - on the amad one - where the quote says “just a hand on the shoulder” the image in fact shows 2 hands on his arm. Demonstrably factually inaccurate assessment of the situation by the VAR
@DaleJohnsonBBC This is bonkers. One cant possibly justify the Maguire one as a pen if amad’s wasn’t. I’d be fine with either both being pens or both not, but there is more of a pull on amad than evanilson so the “not enough for a foul” justification for truffert has to then apply to maguire too
@England_Pod Gordon’s done it a lot for Newcastle, and many places showing it as him. Don’t know if that’s inside knowledge or educated guess.
Gordon wide would give a better chance of width - slightly concerned about four 10s causing congestion, worsened by Fbs who don’t really overlap
@AliMaxwell_@England_Pod Strongly agree. It’s eye-catching making a run where he beats a man or two - as he did Friday - but far too often he takes too many touches, plays a poor ball or flat cross.
If we’re defending a lead he’s a great out ball off the bench, but Gordon should start for me
@DaleJohnsonBBC@sistoney67 I’d be interested to hear the communication on the Maguire one in particular. The match centre have said that one stood because it was deemed a “holding offence” but personally I can’t see a hold (hand on him, yes, but no hold). So if no hold, should that’ve led to OFR?
@England_Pod@England As someone with tickets for Uruguay, unhappy about the rested players for the first game 👎
As an England fan, happy about the rested players for the first game 👍 (still a bit miffed it was described as a “send off” game though, when it’s actually a try out game)
@henrywinter Understand the logic from a squad prep perspective but a bit disrespectful to match going fans of the first game, no? I’ve got tickets with my dad to that one and it was advertised as a “send off”, not a B team. If they’d advertised as such we could’ve made informed decision
