Hi #writingcommunity I’m Andy. I write upmarket commercial fiction. I’m editing my debut novel - a lottery winner who secretly gives away his winnings to good causes – (not based on a true story, unfortunately) 😉 I’m also a musician, Excel whiz, and an avid devourer of caffeine!
Very excited (and slightly nervous) that the opening 400 words of Troll Hunter has been selected for @JerichoWriters Critique Club tomorrow! Hoping for lots of helpful feedback whilst I continue the great second draft/edit. #WritingCommunity
There’s been a lot of discussion on this, and I wholeheartedly agree with the reply below. Plotting/drafting a book is one of the pure joys of writing - transforming a spark of an idea into layered characters, meaningful motivations, and a compelling emotional journey. Being an author means embracing EVERY stage of the craft, not just handing the "harder parts" to AI. That’s how you grow, and that’s how your stories stay human. #WritingCommunity
Maybe this is controversial of me but if you see the scenes so clearly in your head but can’t get them into cohesive words that sound good, maybe you’re just not a writer lol
Great experience at the @JerichoWriters Meet Your Match event, and it’s already led to some really promising contacts and interest as I prepare for my next round of query submissions. #writingcommunity
Taking on board some invaluable submission feedback, I’m stepping back from querying to craft Draft 6 of The Good Shepherd. It’s the right move — the pace is tightening, the story’s sharpening, and I’m determined to earn those elusive full requests! #WritingCommunity
A slower December than planned thanks to lingering post‑Covid migraines, but I’m finally turning a corner. Excited to dive into 2026 with fresh momentum: more Good Shepherd queries going out, and a full second‑draft push on Troll Hunter. #WritingCommunity
@Nattykbrown I've always found @JerichoWriters very good for professional editing, and I know they offer a query package critique which includes opening chapters
Thrilled to share that The Good Shepherd has made the Final 50 of the New2theScene Summer Novel Competition 2025! 🎉
My first ever writing contest—and it’s incredible to receive recognition for a story I’ve poured five years of heart and soul into.

While I wait on #TheGoodShepherd query responses, it’s time to dive into edits on novel two: #TrollHunter. First dilemma—stick with 3rd person POV or take the plunge into 1st (as my editor suggests)? Writers, what’s your POV preference? #amediting#writingcommunity
Feeling excited (with a pinch of trepidation)… my debut novel The "Good Shepherd" is officially out on query! Hoping for good news soon 🤞
If you’ve been through the trenches, I’d love to hear your querying wisdom!
