In no particular order.
Once Upon A Time In The West
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
John Carpenter's The Thing
Double Indemnity
For a Few Dollars More
... I'm sensing a theme (composed by Ennio Morricone)
(There's a bunch more I could add to that list of course)
@perplexingruins Also with colour profiles, if you're sending art to a commercial printer, those do not matter in the slightest as we use our own printer's profiles. If you're printing at home, play around with those profiles and see what works best.
@perplexingruins Also, as someone else already noted, what colour profiles and paper stock you're using can vary the colours pretty wildly unless you're operating something like the digital press at work that we colour calibrate every day.
@MikiDrawsstuff I've found that for me, trying to make art specifically for a portfolio just ends in me overthinking everything. Doing work for other people/doing personal projects for the fun of them (like my ttrpg books) I've found is a much better way to build a good body of work.
@MikiDrawsstuff I personally have it worded specifically in my freelance contracts that advances are non-refundable because I have had shitty clients before who refused to pay. (Also... folks out there doing commissions professionally... please please please use a contract)
@MikiDrawsstuff Mmmm... it's like that... I don't know how many jobs I applied too over the last three years that never got back to me at all. Key is to try not let it get to you. So much of it unfortunately is down to straight up luck.
