@DrJaninaRamirez I think its a few things. Information is now fluid. It can get places easily. Then you have a feedback effect of preferential algorithms within social media platforms showing you what you want to see/fear. Then you also have content being politically weaponised.
@DarrenG12176297@SamHarrisOrg Isn't that called satire? I mean I have not seen or heard this person but if they are satirising the subject (And seriously that looks like deep deep satire), then that brings a different level of comprehension to it.
On the other hand if their reality mimics satire. Well.
@RogerMacNicol@fesshole Yep, that'd be about right, for the UK. my first dial up was demon but I changed to freeserve which started in 98. I then switched to an ISDN broadband connection in 2001.
I believe DSL was available some places, just not in my area.
@Dr2NisreenAlwan I dont think that it has anything to do with them being face masks, I think that it has everything to do with them being told what to do. Obeying that directive would legitimise it's authority and perhaps more importantly the implied personal responsibility. Might make it real?
Ok. Deep breath.
I think we may look back on this as the first Great Information War. Except we're already 8 years in.
The first Great Information War began in 2014. The invasion of Ukraine is the latest front. And the idea it doesn't already involve us is fiction, a lie.
