This is no joke, I let a man into the pub this morning to begin paining it. I left him at it and said I’d be back at 4. He had to get a lift home at 12:30 because he was so scuttered. Might see if any of those fruit pickers are looking for a nixer over the next week. Scandalous.
Our #JPII pupils in TY had a busy couple of days as they travelled to the Basilica in Knock for the Live Life retreat day in memory of Donal Walsh. As well as that they enjoyed a bit of shopping in Liffey Valley and stayed overnight in the Fr Peyton Memorial Centre in Ballina.
Today the school competed in DCU’s Red Og Murphy 7-a-side football competition.
They had a tough group facing Naas CBS, St Benildus College, Castleknock Community College and St Attractas. With three wins out of four we progressed to the knockout stages where we were eventually defeated by Mullingar CBS. Our player of the tournament was Adam Connick.
Well done to everyone involved. The school would like to commend DCU for hosting this most enjoyable day out.
@EPLBible In live play it’s a handball alright. But I don’t think VAR should be able to go back that far to disallow the goal. If the ref missed it he missed it. Either way it’s a very messy situation and whichever team the decision went against would have the right to feel hand done by.
@EPLBible Shocking decision. Football is a contact sport, he gets the ball and there is absolutely no intent. VAR officials showing the referee the worst possible angles as well. The tackle looks much worse than it is, and the receiver plays on as normal afterwards.
The Wexford Football League has made some serious progress in promoting the game at a local level in fairness to them. The FAI App, weekly Podcasts and features games make it easier to follow and much more exciting! 👏👏
@thegaacorner It’s a red card all day. In live play it’s easy for a referee to think he was going for the ball and give a yellow. The reply shows this is clearly not the case. There should be some sort of post-game punishment in my opinion. Clear intent to dangerously strike his opponent.
@DerekFehily Very true Derek. But a lot of questionable decisions with team selection in my opinion. But that’s what he gets the big money for and maybe he sees things that we don’t.
@GearoidCullen In fairness Gaeroid it’s a bleak day for Wexford hurling. I’m not going to glorify the performance just bcz I’m from Wexford. The reality is Wex GAA unapologetically shape the Wexford Championship and their funds around hurling. I can have my opinion on the output if I want.
@GearoidCullen Nice point, but I don’t agree. Over the past few years we have had Rory O’, Conor Mac and Lee Chin inside and the quality of ball going in has been below par. Good teams like Galway work the ball up and place passes to their inside forwards. Wexford rain ball in for 100 yards.
