“Though the thrust of the EO remains, some tactical wins were scored for sure by those raising concerns—namely the 30-day review of advanced models down from 90 days.”

NEW: NSI Experts Weigh In: Artificial Intelligence in the Vatican
Link: https://t.co/gGfwIdeB4T
To assess what this encyclical means for national security and AI policy, we asked our experts to weigh in, responding to the questions: What should the national security community make of the Catholic Church positioning itself as a major voice in AI governance? How might adversaries (or allies) leverage or respond to the Vatican’s intervention in AI policy? Considering the current threat landscape around AI-generated disinformation, does a framework centered on human dignity offer a useful guide for thinking about information warfare?

It’s empowering to lift people ☝️. Do you EVER feel good after criticizing someone in person or online? A related lesson I took from others & believe in (even more so after a health scare): you can’t control what others put into the world, but you CAN control what you put out!
Underrated life advice: Become a purveyor of encouragement. Notice what's good in people. Tell them when they do something well. Celebrate their progress. Root for them to win. Be inspired by their success. The world already has enough critics. Be different.
"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band.
The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September).
Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.
This was beautiful Sean. Thank you for sharing Judson’s story. I especially loved this line: “If there are disappointments about the path his life has taken, they’re our own, not Judson’s.”
I almost hesitate to promote this, because it wasn't really intended to be a piece. I just sort of sat down and it came out. Maybe someone else out there has the same type of day today, and it'll speak to them.

America must continue to lead in the AI arms race against China.
Thankful to have @Heritage_Action support our bills to make sure China can no longer smuggle our advanced AI technology and use it against us.
As you watch Aaron Rai in the PGA Championship, you might notice he uses iron covers for his clubs and wears two gloves — two habits often viewed as golf faux pas. But both are actually inspiring.
Rai grew up in a working-class family in England, where his father sacrificed heavily to support his golf career. When Aaron got an expensive set of irons as a kid, his dad would clean every groove with a pin and baby oil after practice because the clubs meant that much to them. The iron covers became a reminder to appreciate what you have.
And the two gloves? Rai started wearing them as a kid during cold-weather golf in England and eventually became so comfortable with the feel that he never stopped.
Not gimmicks. Just gratitude… and comfort.
Chairman @RepMoolenaar | “Chinese drones and even cranes in our ports can ‘phone home’ to the CCP, quietly tracking what’s happening in our communities and critical infrastructure.”
Every blind spot in our skies or at our ports is an open door for the CCP. This isn’t theory, it’s a national security threat.
WATCH: CBS's Tony Dokoupil completes his editorial to close out the West Coast Evening News broadcast. In a minute and a half, he runs through what the other nightlies omit- that China is going through the suck worse than the U.S. right now. The media hall monitors will surely throw a fit about it tomorrow.
TONY DOKOUPIL: Finally, tonight from Taiwan: as President Trump and China's Xi Jinping prepare to meet, you will hear a lot about American decline and the rise of a powerful new China. The Chinese certainly believe it. But is it true? Xi’s China is a marvel by many measures, is- is the world's second largest economy, producing almost 30% of the world's manufactured goods. They have high speed rails that put the Acela to shame. And China has lifted millions of its citizens out of poverty, making things like the iPhones in your pocket and mine.
And yet, America remains the innovation hub of the world. Made in China, yes; but designed and invented in the U.S.A. New drugs, new discoveries, new inventions, new space missions. Xi boasts of the country's industrial might, and it's impossible to deny that fact. China's population is in decline, though, well below replacement rates. Unemployment is high with millions in rural provinces living in poverty, and massive housing complexes that now sit empty. Most importantly, and perhaps I'm stating the obvious here, none of these problems are a topic on the Chinese evening news. In fact, pessimism itself is forbidden on the Chinese internet. The freedoms we have, they simply do not. That's another day in America and the world. I'm Tony Dokoupil, live from Taipei, Taiwan. Good night.
This is a complete own goal. It would triple the amount of AI computing power that China adds next year - before taking into account illegal smuggling. And it would divert scarce AI compute resources away from U.S. firms. This will help China close the gap with the U.S. in AI.
