@phychem11 60m might seem a fair deal if you’re buying. It’s a terrible deal for Newcastle because he’s invaluable to them. You can’t put a price on leadership. He won’t be Arsenal captain so the 2 clubs would put very different values on him.

Playing devils advocate: Why should earnings generated from non football related activities like pop concerts and NFL games be any more relevant to what a team is allowed to spend on players than money invested by owners who’ve generated that money themselves?

The argument isn’t that Spurs shouldn’t be allowed to spend., it’s whether other clubs should too.
