Another alternative is to recreate this swivel studio base in hardwood. It would not be as ponderous as a plain solid white pedestal.

Too many days outta the studio!!! Hungry to work. Still chewing over basing this piece. I hate a plain white box pedestal. Wood limbs that web. But the current lower piece is too thin for me. I could join another chunk under and carve to meet legs below.
