NEW: Artemis 2 crew explains the difficulty of sleeping during their mission to the Moon.
Question: “What does sleeping even look like?”
Answer: “It’s actually sorta comical. Christina has been sleeping heads down in the middle of the vehicle, kinda like a bat suspended from our docking tunnel.”
NYPD Arrests Two Teens for Throwing Homemade Bombs at Anti-Islam Protest Near Gracie Mansion
March 7, 2026 – The New York City Police Department (NYPD) identified and arrested two suspects after an incident involving ignited suspicious devices during protests outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The events unfolded near East End Avenue and East 88th Street during dueling demonstrations on Ramadan. An anti-Islam rally called “Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City,” promoted by Jake Lang, attracted approximately 20 participants. A counter-protest group arrived, resulting in heightened tensions.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., officers arrested one individual from the original protest group for allegedly pepper-spraying counter-protesters (name not released publicly).
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., 18-year-old Emir Balat (also reported as Amir Balat), a counter-protester, lit and threw an ignited device toward the protest area. The device landed in a crosswalk near East 87th Street and East End Avenue, hit a barrier, and went out without causing injury or explosion.
Balat then obtained a second similar device from 19-year-old Ibrahim Nikk (also reported as Ibrahim Nick), lit it, ran toward the area, and dropped it. NYPD officers immediately tackled and arrested both suspects. Video footage showed the dramatic takedown of Balat.
The devices were described as jars wrapped in black tape containing nuts, bolts, screws, and a hobby fuse that could be ignited. The NYPD Bomb Squad and FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force responded to examine the items, determining whether they were viable improvised explosive devices or intended as hoaxes/smoke devices. No injuries occurred, and authorities stated there was no ongoing public threat.

Conservatism is a pretty decadent scene. The broad attitude this morning, “Don’t bother me with questions about strategy, Constitutionality or endgame or matching means to ends, just let me enjoy the explosions.”
