💔 Heartbreaking. At least 20 civilians have been killed in Kyiv
Around 100 people have been injured. The main targets of Russia's overnight attack were residential buildings.
Horrific footage from the aftermath of Russia's massive overnight attack on Kyiv.
Russia killed at least 13 people. Eighty-six others, including children, were injured. Rescuers are still searching for people trapped under the rubble.
The attack lasted more than 11 hours. Russia terrorized Kyiv with drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

Yesterday, the President of Poland noted that the Order of the White Eagle is not an ordinary award. It is a symbol of the highest trust of the Republic of Poland. It signifies a special bond with the Polish state and the special gratitude of the Polish People. Such a symbol requires not only merit, but also respect for the values that form the foundation of our community.
Therefore, if it is considered that this special symbol may remain with Catherine II, Benito Mussolini, and Gerhard Schröder, then we in Ukraine will not argue with that.
Ukraine is grateful to the Polish People for their support and cooperation, which play a significant role in the struggle for our and your independence from Russia.
Ukraine never forgets solidarity and understands that cooperation between states and peoples in our region is one of the tangible security guarantees for Ukrainians and for each neighboring state.
Ukraine will continue to defend itself in this war unleashed by Russia, and we will undoubtedly achieve a dignified peace.
Ukraine is grateful to all peoples, states, and leaders who will continue to stand with us in the defense of freedom and who, together with Ukraine, will serve as guarantors of postwar peace in Europe and a new, real security.
Ukraine will remain open to all meaningful formats of engagement with Poland in order to try to avoid conflicting interpretations of the difficult and painful chapters of our shared past and to ensure proper respect for all innocent victims of the 20th century.
And Ukrainians are doing everything in our power to ensure that Europe does not suffer defeat in this century.
I am proud of our people and of EVERY Ukrainian warrior – of the millions of Ukrainian men and women who deserve unquestionable respect for the heroism the Ukrainian People have shown in defending themselves against Russian aggression.
We believed that the Order of the White Eagle, awarded in 2023, was meant for the Ukrainian People and our army. That is what was said at the time. Today, I sent the Order back to the President of Poland.
I believe the future will confirm the respect Ukrainians deserve.
Glory to Ukraine!
It is important that the world does not remain silent in response to this latest act of Russian barbarism. This strike on the Lavra is an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity. There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks. What is needed is more cooperation to stop Russia’s war and stronger protection to save lives from Russia.
A ceasefire in Ukraine will enable Russia to rebuild its armed forces and deploy them elsewhere — while not altering Russia’s aims of re-establishing dominance over Eastern Europe.

Just one week…
Kyiv region.
Sumy region.
Dnipro region.
Odesa region.
Donetsk region.
Kharkiv region.
Chernihiv region.
Kherson region.
Zaporizhzhia region.
Russia will not stop because it has destroyed enough.
It will stop only when it is stopped.
41,000 people took shelter in Kyiv’s metro today during Russia’s missile and drone attack.
That is the highest number of people sheltering in the underground during an air raid alert in recent years.
41,000 people.
In a European capital.
In 2026.
More than 500 personnel of the State Emergency Service have been involved in dealing with the aftermath of Russia’s overnight attack on our cities and communities. The main strike was on Kyiv, where dozens of residential buildings and other purely civilian infrastructure were damaged again. Tragically, four people have been reported killed. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. At this moment, 38 people are in hospitals in the capital, and all of them are receiving the necessary care.
In Dnipro, a search and rescue operation is ongoing at the site of a four-story apartment building. Part of the building was essentially demolished. Nine people were killed in this attack, including a child. Thirty-five people were injured in the city. The fate of six more people remains unknown. The search for them will continue for as long as necessary.
The Russians also struck energy facilities in the Kharkiv region and critical infrastructure in Kharkiv. Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions also came under attack.
In total, overnight Russia launched 656 attack drones and 73 missiles of various types at our people – ballistic, cruise, and anti-ship missiles. A large-scale attack and an absolutely clear statement from Russia: if Ukraine is not protected from ballistic and other missile strikes, these attacks will continue. Europe needs its own anti-ballistic defense so that this war can finally be brought to an end. And assistance from the United States in supplying missiles for Patriot systems is absolutely necessary. We are counting on the support of our partners and on effective responses to today’s attack.
And I thank all Ukrainian men and women for not ignoring air raid alerts.
Glory to Ukraine!
Over this week, the Russians have launched more than 2,300 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs, and 108 missiles of various types against our people. All these strikes were directed simply at ordinary civilian infrastructure – residential buildings and energy facilities. Every day, we are working to ensure greater protection against Russian terror. Yesterday, we received a new IRIS-T launcher. We thank Germany for its constant contribution to protecting people; thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved thanks to such strong support. But we also need missiles for air defense systems so that we have sufficient capabilities to repel Russian attacks.
This week, there were significant arrangements with Sweden – a new support package, including for strengthening our aviation with Gripen fighter jets. As for the PURL initiative, there are new contributions this year, and support for this initiative must continue. We are counting on both the United States and European partners. It is anti-ballistic defense that is one of the key priorities for Ukraine.
Strong air defense can provide greater protection for our people and deprive Russia of its last remaining advantage. I thank all partners who are helping, who are ready to respond effectively to Moscow’s attempts to expand and escalate its war. It is very important that this be clearly understood there: choosing war will have consequences. I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine.
Well, as Romanian citizens were injured in Romania by an aggressor State, clearly defending every inch of NATO territory isn't quite what it sounds like.
We have intelligence data indicating that Russia is preparing for a new massive attack. It is important that all our partners know what is happening and that Russia continues to rely on missiles and further war, not diplomatic steps. First of all, this means that additional sanctions pressure on Russia is needed and that the implementation of our air defense arrangements with partners cannot be delayed.
I discussed the relevant tasks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha – what must be done in the coming weeks and which steps by partners can most effectively support our defense. Anti-ballistic defense is the key task. We are also preparing our detailed proposals for a new European sanctions package and additional measures against the circumvention of existing sanctions. I thank everyone who is helping protect life!
Since last night, first responders and all necessary services have been working wherever needed. As of now, at least 83 people have been confirmed injured since midnight. Tragically, there are fatalities. My condolences to the families and loved ones.
It was a heavy attack – 90 missiles of various types, many of them ballistic missiles – 36 in total. There were 600 drones. Unfortunately, not all of the ballistic missiles were intercepted – the largest number of hits was in Kyiv. Kyiv was the primary target of this Russian attack.
Putin can’t even pronounce the word “hurrah” clearly anymore – slurs and mumbles – yet he is still vanquishing residential buildings with his missiles. Launched three Russian missiles against a water supply facility. Burned down a market. Damaged dozens of residential buildings. Hit several ordinary schools. Launched his “Oreshnik” against Bila Tserkva. They really are unhinged.
It is important that this does not pass without consequences for Russia. Today, everyone in the world who will not stay silent and chooses to help Ukraine is a defender of life. It is critically important to continue working to secure air defense for Ukraine, especially anti-ballistic capabilities.
We are doing our best to achieve peace and protect people – everything. It is important that Ukraine is not alone. Decisions are needed – from the United States, from Europe and others – to make that old “Oreshnik” in Moscow finally utter the word “peace.”
Geniuses of Russian marketing. An ad for the Russian military contract reads: "A job for real men."
The name of the bus stop: "Meat Processing Plant."
Perfect.
This week, the Russians launched more than 3,170 attack drones, over 1,300 guided aerial bombs, and 74 missiles of various types, most of them ballistic, against Ukraine. There were many hits on residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, 52 people were killed as a result of attacks this week. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 346 people were affected and injured, including 22 children.
Our people need more protection, and everything that supports Ukraine’s air defense ultimately helps save lives. That is why the PURL initiative and additional contributions for anti-ballistic missiles are critical. And it is equally important to work in Europe on joint protection against ballistic missiles. We must be self-sufficient in defense so that Russian aerial terror cannot threaten Ukraine or any other country on the continent. I am grateful to all of our partners who have taken concrete steps to support our defense.
❗️Russia attacked vehicles belonging to a UN humanitarian mission in Kherson - a direct violation of international law.
Vehicles of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs were damaged by a Russian drone attack. There might be injured.
💔 Ukraine’s State Emergency Service has released heartbreaking footage from the rescue operation in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, where the body of a child was recovered from the rubble of a destroyed residential building
According to the latest data, 24 people were killed in the Russian strike on the Ukrainian capital on the night of May 14, including three children.
🕯 May 15 has been declared a day of mourning in Kyiv.
The body of another child was found under the debris.
Russia killed two kids and 14 adults in Kyiv today. It injured 57 more.
I can't find words. I am aching and sorry for everyone whose lives were ruined by Russia.
RIP.
It was a Kh-101 missile that struck a residential building in Kyiv, according to preliminary data.
The missile was manufactured in the second quarter of this year. This means Russia is still importing the components, resources, and equipment necessary for missile production in circumvention of global sanctions.
Stopping Russia’s sanctions evasion schemes must be a genuine priority for all our partners.
