Like the more I sit with it the more I'm just like modern games are WAY too expensive for what amounts to similar experiences we paid $60 for and now they charging more for ports of those same experiences and they're not even feature complete
Literally this very direct for me. Saw the new FE was $80 and that the Switch 2 editions of the Xeno games are releasing without the DLC. As someone that hasn't played Xenoblade 3 I was hoping the Switch 2 would have sensible definitive release but that's $100 for one game ๐ญ
I think part of the problem with vibes around the Switch 2 is the system has yet to have a truly AMAZING Direct showing a ton of standout experiences for the console
All the Directโs of this era have been either decent to mid, or bogged down by external factors like MK being $80
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition โ Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and its upgrade pack, are available today.
Additionally, the digital Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 & Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be available July 30 & Dec 3 respectively. #NintendoDirect
The weirdest thing about all this is that one would assume that these games cost less to produce than your standard first party fare from other consoles and with Nintendo's often high attach rate and scarce discounts it's not like they'd not turn a profit selling at $60.
The only thing keeping me from going all in on a Switch 2 is Nintendo's pricing behavior. A $70 which will have a few sales every couple of months that knocks off maybe $20-25 and has year one expansion pass dlc priced at $35.
I really enjoyed the direct. Xenoblade Genesis looks great. I'm not paying $80 and then maybe $30 for the inevitable expansion. Something's got to give.
They've gotta be remaking Abyss or something. Every Tales is getting port/remaster except Abyss. I fully expect something like Innocence or Legendia to get remasters before Abyss.
Also every publisher had an expo so instead of like 1-2 titles shown we'd get a whole slate from Capcom, EA, Konami, Bethesda, etc. as well as the console manufacturers.
@Jiikae The only thing I miss was the on stage hands-on gameplay/demonstrations and even that comes with an asterisk as a lot were just extremely polished vertical slices or bullshots. I appreciate the all killer, little to no filler presentations we have now.
More games should have younger characters. Feels like that's been going away recently just don't know if I can rely on Shift Up to do it tastefully considering the first game was unabashedly pervy towards the main character (they were within their right to not saying otherwise).
