Era demasiado arriesgado que Madonna llamara 'Confessions II' a su nuevo disco, porque irremediablemente iba a ser comparado con la obra maestra que tiene piezas como Sorry, How High, Jump, Let It Will Be, Push o Hung Up...

Pero, al final, hay poco que reprocharle, porque estamos frente a la nueva obra maestra que tiene joyas como Betrayal, Bizarre, Fragile, Good For The Soul, Everything, School o I Feel So Free.

Además, al final, el título de los discos parece incluso más apropiado para esta segunda parte.

El disco no solo abre con una tanda de canciones más movidas y bailables que las que cierran el álbum. En realidad, se trata de ir dando paso a lo realmente confesional, a lo íntimo.

Entre letras a su fallecido hermano, a su madrastra, a su hija, a los amores que no se dieron y a ella misma, la reina del pop cierra magistralmente un disco que no sólo es un guiño directo a su álbum de 2005, sino que también recuerda en momentos a algunos de sus trabajos más reflexivos e inspirados, como Like A Prayer, Ray Of Light o American Life.

I’m gonna say it.

Bedtime Stories is Madonna’s best album.

People were so butthurt over her Sex book and the Erotica era that they tried to punish her for it, which is the only reason this album peaked at number 3 in America. But musically? She won. She gave us immaculate vocals, smooth late-night R&B, and absolute sophistication from start to finish.

And nobody ever talks about "Sanctuary", which is a crime because it is a masterpiece. The track feels so incredibly forbidden. The melody creates this heavy, atmospheric vibe where you feel like you aren't even supposed to be listening to it - it is so deeply sexual, intimate, and explicit without needing to shout about it.

From the hypnotic energy of "Sanctuary" to the effortless middle finger of "Human Nature", it is her most cohesive, textured, and underrated body of work.
