Using a diff-in-diff framework, I've estimated the impact of the 1913 Natives Land Act on South Africa's demographics at the magisterial district level. Districts that contained Native Land Areas saw large relative declines in Native population shares and Native population in 3 out of 4 provinces. Nationally, we see about a 5 percentage point decline in Native population shares and 24% decline in Native population compared to untreated districts.
As it turns out, when the DA and their enlightened commentariat push something and discover that literally no one agrees with them, they collectively have a conniption. Malding, even.
A must read. Outrageous but unfortunately not uncommon for right-leaning figures to be maliciously misrepresented by leftist academics. Reward and adulation to follow such lies.
If a historian on the right abused evidence in this way, they'd face career ruination.
When Boston University's Quinn Slobodian does it, he gets a Guggenheim fellowship, book awards, and a Hewlett Foundation grant.
Academia's rot runs far deeper than a simple crisis of rigor.
I pick on Slobodian in the thread below as an egregious and recurring offender. But this sort of quote-editing by leftist scholars is *extremely* common in academia.
Here's another by Nancy MacLean & Sandy Darity where they transform an attack on Apartheid into a defense of it.
Imagine your girlfriend left you for the guy she was cheating on you with and then when the new guy can't buy her the giant diamond ring she wanted you take her back.
Pic unrelated.
What is wrong with Geordin Hill-Lewis and Ryan Coetzee? Fresh off the DA’s township ward-winning success in Emfuleni, the pair engaged in the most childish and scurrilous squabble on X with Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald.

@uMarhobane The big switch was over the covid period iirc. Debt holders used to be like 50/50 between foreigners and local holders then went like 75/25 in fovour if locals. Foreigners generally do not want to put money into SA or give the gov money. Too much risk.
Roughly 1 out of every 1,800 people gets murdered each year in the DA’s Western Cape. The fact that more is not done to remedy this situation is atrocious… The DA has levers to pull, but they refuse to. Eyes on the prize - so these people simply need to die until the DA gets control of the national government to fix the mess. Not enough is being done to, at the very least, demand that police powers be handed down to provinces. Unforgivable.
Implied murder rate of 56.6 per 100k for the whole Western Cape, btw. Would give the province the highest murder rate in the world if it was an independent country.
The DA is in charge of Home Affiars and yet there are 3-4 million illegal aliens running around in SA, many of them violent criminals. How could Leon Schreiber allow it to get so out of hand? DA incompetence.
The DA controls the ministry of education, and yet 47% of adults in SA (+18 million people) do not even have a matric qualification. Much clearer example of disastrous governance by the DA imo.
