We were thinking...and we just wanted to say thank you to our followers. We really do love being here with you every day and interacting. 🙏🏻❤️ GN, #Angels!
Wife: Our prenup says I walk away with $800,000 if we divorce.
Husband: That was the deal we made before we got married.
Judge: How many years have you been married?
Wife: Twenty-two.
Judge: What was your husband worth when you signed that agreement?
Wife: About $2 million.
Judge: And his net worth today?
Wife: Around $50 million.
The judge put down his pen.
Judge: That's a significant increase. Tell me about the agreement. Did you negotiate it yourself?
Wife: We negotiated it together, with our lawyers.
Judge: Did you have your own attorney?
Wife: Yes.
Judge: Did you know what assets your husband owned at the time?
Wife: Yes.
Judge: Did he threaten you, hide information, or pressure you into signing?
Wife: No.
Judge: Was there any provision allowing your settlement to increase if his company became more valuable?
Wife: No.
Judge: What about a share of future profits?
Wife: Nothing like that.
The judge turned toward the husband.
Judge: You were worth $2 million when you married. You're now worth $50 million. Why did you insist on a fixed settlement?
Husband: Because I wanted to protect my company. We agreed that if the marriage ended, she would receive $800,000, and I would keep everything else covered by the agreement.
Judge: And you believe that arrangement should stand?
Husband: Absolutely. My company didn't grow by accident. I took the risks, worked the long hours, and built it from nothing.
The wife shook her head.
Wife: You make it sound like I did nothing for twenty-two years.
Husband: That's not what I said.
Wife: I gave up my career as a nurse when our first son was born. I raised our three children, moved four times because your company needed it, and kept our family together while you traveled and worked every weekend. Every time you needed to take a risk, I made sure there was a home waiting for you.
Husband: And I provided for all of you. We both contributed to this marriage.
Wife: Then explain why the agreement values my contribution at $800,000, no matter how much your fortune grows.
Husband: Because that's what we agreed on. You knew exactly what you were signing.
Wife: I knew what $800,000 meant when you had $2 million. I never imagined that twenty-two years later you'd be worth $50 million and still think the original number was fair.
The courtroom fell silent.
Judge: Did you ever ask to renegotiate the agreement during the marriage?
Wife: No.
Judge: Did you ever request a percentage of the company or its future growth?
Wife: No.
Judge: Did your husband conceal his wealth or mislead you about the terms?
Wife: No.
The judge studied the document again.
Judge: I understand why the outcome feels different to you now. But a financial agreement doesn't automatically become invalid because one spouse's wealth increases dramatically.
Wife: So twenty-two years of marriage, raising our children, and supporting his career don't change anything?
Judge: They may be relevant under the applicable law and the circumstances of your case. But I can't disregard a valid agreement simply because the result now seems unfavorable.
The husband sat back in his chair.
For the first time that morning, he looked relieved.
Sam Heughan has been cast opposite Viola Davis in Paramount+ series ‘ASCENT.’
Billed as a character-driven thriller set in the dangerous world of global corporate crisis and damage control.

Sam popping up at the Central Cafe looking chilled, and smiley.
Those fish and chips look quite delicious, too.
Sounds like Sam is continuing on his Southern Upland walk, which seems to be the basis of his next book, a follow up of sorts to Waypoints.
