The last time Manchester United faced Brentford, United lost 3–1, a result heavily influenced by a scandalous mistake from the referee and VAR.

In the second half, with the score at 2–1, Mbeumo was denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when Brentford defender Collins pulled him down.

The referee awarded a penalty but failed to show a red card for a clear DOGSO, and VAR agreed with the decision.

To everyone’s shock, VAR took about five minutes to review what seemed an obvious call, yet still reached the wrong conclusion.

This delay may have contributed to Bruno’s penalty miss, while Brentford remained with 11 players on the pitch.

This poor decision had a significant impact on the match, with United eventually losing 3–1.

The PGMOL chief later admitted it was a mistake.

John Brooks, who sent Paul Tierney to the monitor to send Martínez off, was on VAR for Man City vs Arsenal today.

This time, he chose to 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐄 the following incidents:

1. A clear goal-scoring opportunity involving Khusanov on Kai Havertz.

2. A seemingly deliberate headbutt from Gabriel on Erling Haaland.

3. A similar incident to Martínez’s, where Gabriel appeared to pull Haaland’s hair.

No intervention this time — perhaps because Manchester United weren’t involved.

If that was a Manchester United player headbutting someone like Gabriel did to Erling Haaland, that’s a straight red.

If it was Casemiro or Lisandro Martínez, it’s an instant red with no VAR check.

PGMOL’s top referee Chris Kavanagh is having a nightmare of a game in Everton vs Liverpool.

1. Deliberately chose not to book Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch.

2. Booked Jordan Pickford for dissent, but not Dominik Szoboszlai despite him pointing in the referee’s face.

3. Failed to control the game, allowing players to crowd and confront each other.

4. Fell for players going down easily to win free-kicks.

5. Ndiaye brushed Szoboszlai’s hair — arguably more severe than Martínez’s incident — yet no action was taken.

Yesterday, Chelsea substitute Romeo Lavia appeared to deliberately stamp on Bruno Fernandes’ foot while he was already on the ground.

Referee Michael Oliver didn’t spot the incident, and VAR Tony Harrington also did not recommend a review.

If the same challenge had been made by a United player, it could easily have resulted in a red card and a three-match suspension.

The deliberate inconsistency is becoming hard to ignore.

It’s absolutely crazy. I won’t be surprised if other players and teams do start to take advantage of this rule and PGMOL then coming up with something ridiculous later

Licha wasn’t even looking at DCL. DCL was grabbing Licha’s neck. Licha was acting on reaction and his hands went to DCL’s jersey that happens with every footballer. Footballers often pull jersey of other players. In this case, Licha’s hand just fell on DCL’s long hair. As soon as Licha realized this he pulled back. There was no force and there was hardly any pull.

It’s crazy to look at that and give a red card in the first place. It’s crazier to look at it again and give a 3 match suspension. There was no violence in there.

It was surprising how the referee could see these two incidents so differently, but he gets one look so you cut him some slack & VAR was brought in to correct his mistakes

But for them to look at it multiple times & still make the same mistake is utterly baffling
