The prevalence of borderline personality disorder among transgender people is so high that some clinicians have suggested transgender or gender-diverse identity is synonymous with BPD.
BPD people have a low and unstable threshold for being considered an "enemy". So it's not mysterious that a culture with disproportionate BPD manifests confused and sensitive loyalty tests for being an enemy of the group.
This is why so many otherwise progressive people have given up on trying to be trans allies.
