This morning I was at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this UNESCO World Heritage site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna including the majestic one horned rhinoceros.

In my address to the 93rd Session of the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha, I recollected the rich legacy of this great organisation in spreading the fragrance of Gurujona’s teachings far and wide through its dedicated network of over 40 lakh volunteers.

Our Government is leaving no stone unturned to complement the Sangha’s founding objectives. The expansion of Borduwa Than, establishing of Srimanta Sankardev Chair at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi are some of the major efforts we are undertaking to create a national awareness on the life and thoughts of Assam’s greatest Saint.

HISTORIC DAY: ULFA PEACE ACCORD 🙌

Guided by the sterling vision and blessings of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji efforts for lasting peace & progress in Assam received a historic impetus today. The Memorandum of Settlement, signed under the guidance of Hon’ble HM Shri @AmitShah ji, stands out for many reasons.

👉This Agreement draws the curtains on Assam’s oldest armed resistance pursued by ULFA, protects the interests of our people & paves way for spurring growth in the region.

👍Those who were once associated with violence will become partners in the nation’a progress.

Today is indeed a special day for Bharat

✅For an entire generation, insurgency had stymied the potential of Assam. The single minded pursuit of inclusive development by Hon’ble PM since 2014 has resulted in today’s transformative achievement which marks a new dawn of harmony & togetherness.

A historic day for Assam.

Fulfilling PM @narendramodi Ji's vision for a prosperous, peaceful and developed Northeast, today we have arrived at a landmark resolution to the ULFA insurgency problem of Assam.

The Government of India and the Government of Assam have signed a memorandum of settlement with the oldest insurgent group of the state ULFA. The insurgent group has agreed to abjure the path of violence, surrender all arms and ammunition, join the peaceful democratic process as established by the law and uphold the integrity of the country.
