Due date for #TaxAudit is 30th Sept. however almost all Accountants and Tax Practitioners were busy till 31st Aug. in filing #ITR.

Another serious observation in new TDS filing system

Q1 FY 2026-27 TDS return filed within due date on ITD Portal on 30 July,remained “Pending for Processing” status on TRACES portal till 17 August and was REJECTED on 18 August.

Now the deductor is expected to file afresh and bear late fee for nearly 20 days!

Why should the filer be penalised for a delay entirely at the portal’s end?

If there is any structural/validation error, the return should be rejected at the time of upload itself. Once the ITD Portal ACCEPTS the return, it should move to TRACES for processing-with/without defaults, if any,but not be rejected weeks later.

Even more surprising: Helpdesk says rejection after acceptance is a “normal scenario”.

This is neither normal nor fair.

System delays cannot become taxpayer defaults. Please check the same urgently @IncomeTaxIndia

There’s a lesser-known verification tool available on the GST Portal.

Just:

→ Login to the GST Portal
→ Select Search Taxpayer
→ Look for “Liability Paid Percentage”

It can give you a quick insight into the supplier’s GST payment behaviour and whether they are regularly discharging their tax liability.

A small check that can provide valuable insight.
