Glad to participate in the launch of the Kiwi Project as a USP of Arunachal Pradesh by Hon’ble Union DoNER Minister Shri @JM_Scindia ji today.

Arunachal Pradesh is the largest kiwi-growing State in the country, contributing nearly 50% of India’s kiwi production. This initiative will give a major boost to the sector through orchard rejuvenation, varietal replacement and expansion of cultivation.

The project will also address critical gaps in post-harvest management by strengthening infrastructure, value addition, processing and market linkages for our farmers.

I congratulate all kiwi grower farmers of Arunachal Pradesh on this significant initiative and express my heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for his focused approach towards sector-wise development in the North Eastern States.

It is indeed a matter of immense pride to know that the artisans and weavers from the Northeastern states were honoured with an audience with Hon’ble President of India Droupadi Murmu, following their commendable contribution in showcasing the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of Northeast India at the ���At Home’ reception held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 26, 2026.

I express my heartfelt gratitude and profound respect to Rashtrapati Ji for bestowing such honour and recognition upon the artisans and weavers of Northeast India by inviting them to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Appreciation also to the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) for their continued efforts in promoting and empowering the rich handloom and handicraft traditions of the Northeast.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the MDoNER & MEA. Immense opportunities and potential in NER in infrastructure, tourism, trade, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges were highlighted. Presentation on developmental initiatives and investment prospects showcased flagship programmes, major projects, and avenues for collaboration in the NER. Event included Q&A session, during which, Secretary, MDoNER, reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening and deepening of cultural and economic engagement with southeast asian countries.
