Two Sikh Caretakers Shot Dead Inside Gurdwara in Pakistan's Mardan

In a shocking incident, a Sikh elderly couple was shot dead inside a gurdwara in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to police, an unidentified gunman opened fire inside the gurdwara located in Baboo Mohalla of Khwaja Ganj Bazaar in Mardan district, killing the husband and wife, who were serving as caretakers of the shrine.

Elderly couple, aged around 72 and 69, had no children and were dedicated caretakers of the gurdwara. They alleged that the attackers shot the victims in the face.

The last rites of the deceased are expected to be performed in Mardan. Community leaders have demanded a thorough investigation and immediate arrest of those responsible.

Mardan is home to a small Sikh and Hindu population of around 300 people.

High-level delegation of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) along with all heads of paramilitary forces and Intelligence agencies is likely to visit Jammu and Kashmir for two days on June 20 and 21 to assess preparedness especially security arrangements for annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji, beginning July 3.

MHA team headed by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and comprising heads of all paramilitary forces including CRPF, BSF, SSB etc, Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other senior officials of the Union Home Ministry will review security arrangements for 57-day-long yatra in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

The MHA meeting in Jammu is expected on June 20 followed by a similar meeting in Kashmir division the next day.

Major Crackdown on Narco Terrorism in Jammu Kashmir continues.

In last 65 days in Jammu Division 700 drug peddlers arrested .

Assets of worth over Rs 45 crore attached or demolished.

598 FIRs were lodged against drug peddlers, in which 701 peddlers have been arrested to date, while 155 hotspots of drug activity were identified across Jammu.

14 kg of heroin, 49 kg of ganja, 3.712 kg of charas and 204.5 kg of poppy straw also been recovered.

101 driving licences were suspended and 81 cancelled to date.

A young Australian girl was shot dead by police in Pakistan after officers mistook her family’s rental car for one used by armed robbers.
