If you’re shocked that the BJP govt in MP is defending 73% reservation in the SC, here’s some perspective:

The NDA govt in Bihar is in the SC challenging the Patna HC’s order that struck down attempt to raise reservation to 65%.

In Maharashtra, the NDA govt passed a law in 2018 increasing quotas to 68%, which the SC later struck down.

In Karnataka, the BJP govt in 2021 filed an affidavit seeking to lift the 50% ceiling on reservations.

The takeaway is simple: on the issue of reservation, political parties of every stripe behave the same. Many states have already breached the 50% limit, others are waiting their turn, and eventually one Supreme Court bench will validate it, after which the floodgates will open.

So if you belong to the unreserved category, don’t waste energy crying about it. Democracy runs on numbers, and you don’t have them. So fight this legally for as long as you can, but don’t wait for the courts to secure your future. Be your own saviours: work harder, back each other, build wealth, raise families, create a lasting legacy, and ensure your children never have to rely on the govt to survive or succeed.

CJI is a Dalit, a Buddhist, and an admirer of Ambedkar. Ambedkarite Buddhists take 22 vows, the first being: I shall have no faith in Brahma, Vishnu, or Mahesh, nor worship them.

If you believe in this vow, fine. Have no faith, don’t worship. We don’t want you to. But that’s your personal matter. The line must be drawn when personal beliefs color professional judgments. The petitioner before the Court was exercising rights guaranteed by Articles 25 to 28, the right to worship, the right to faith, and the right to protection of religious practice.

As Chief Justice, the duty is to uphold those rights, regardless of personal disbelief or dislike. The plea was simple: restoration of an idol’s head. The Court could have ruled either way, yes or no. But instead of judicial clarity, why resort to mocking or preaching?

Passenger complained to @RailwaySeva about caterer overcharging. RailSeva takes the PNR and seat no. and passes them to irctc to solve it, who tells the contractor, who tells his men, and they come beat up the passenger.

I’ve seen at least two more such cases. Complain, share your details, and then get beaten up because of those very details.

This needs to be streamlined. Complaints should be investigated by a third party. Sharing passenger details with the very people the complaint is against, and then forcing direct contact, makes no sense. Instead, collect passenger details, verify the complaint, and refund directly to their account, without bringing them face-to-face.
