Then they have two choices- stop working on the game and reallocate resources, or work on paid content to keep the money coming in and validate the resources they are (1/2)

@AidenAtKotoki @NintendoAmerica They said they had content planned for new horizons for at least the next 3 years. Plus, new leaf came out Nov 2012, Pocket Camp in Oct 2017, and New Horizons March 2020. So I'm guessing 3 years is a good timeline before thinking they will release another lol
