I've always done cold outreach but this practice has 100% helped me ritualise courage and take bigger swings. I wrote about it here if you'd like to adopt something similar:

I have this weird little ritual where every week I email someone who’s out of my league, out of the blue. I call this ‘Shoot Your Shot Wednesday’ and it looks something like this:
Also it’s worth noting that I’ve been writing every single day for the past 18 months without any niche in mind, and this is the first time I’ve stumbled across something that I feel I could talk at length about. Good things take time, evidently.
Sometimes when I sit down to write my weekly newsletter I can’t come up with a good idea for the life of me.
I’ll stare at the blank page on computer screen, willing something brilliant to pop into my mind.
It almost never does...
I’ve recently tried a new approach to generating great ideas; brainstorming bad ones. I spend 5 minutes coming up with crappy ideas, the worse the better. I start furiously typing whatever comes into my brain until after a few minutes, I inevitably strike gold.
