📢 Applications are open for the first Euro-Mediterranean Women in Journalism Award.
The award recognises gender-sensitive, solutions-oriented reporting on the challenges the region shares such as gender equality, socioeconomic inclusion, climate action and more.
Open to women journalists and women-led journalistic projects whose lead applicant is a national of a UfM Member State. Any journalistic format qualifies (article, investigation, podcast, documentary or series) and cross-border collaborations are encouraged. Work may be published in any language; English is the official language of the application and the award.
An initiative of @ufmsecretariat, in partnership with the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Women Journalists, @AnnaLindh, @IEMed_ and @IFJGlobal.

A pleasure meeting @EP_President Roberta Metsola on 13 Feb 2026 to discuss strengthening ALF–EP cooperation, including progress towards a Youth Parliamentary Assembly for the Mediterranean, an action set out in the Pact for the Mediterranean.

ALF held its 78th Board of Governors Meeting, a key moment to reflect on the past & align on the future & to reaffirm how ALF remains useful & relevant to communities & institutions across the region.
The ED shared updates from the ALF Secretariat & presented the Annual Work Programme 2026 approved by the Board. +80% of ALF’s operational programme budget of Phase VII (2025-2028) is channelled to National Civil Society Networks & grassroots-level activities across the region.
The partners engaged in collaborative & participatory exchanges & discussions laying the groundwork for a shared roadmap & the next steps of TRANSFORMED’s implementation across the Euro-Med.
TRANSFORMED is a project funded by the EU under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
1-2 Feb marked the launch of the TRANSFORMED project in Alexandria. Honoured by the presence of the Managing Authority & Joint Secretariat of the @interregnextmed, H.E. Polly Ioannou, Amb. of Cyprus to Egypt & the project 4 partners & @UfMSecretariat as an associate partner.
The UfM took part in the kick off of the #TRANSFORMED project in Alexandria, Egypt, under the @interregnextmed and hosted by the @AnnaLindh Foundation. Represented by expert Ayman Elsherbiny, the UfM expressed its support for strengthened cooperation between local authorities and civil society across Mediterranean cities. Through dialogue, partnership and knowledge sharing, #TRANSFORMED promotes more inclusive and participatory approaches that respond to the needs of communities.
Through mentorship, training & resources, the Young Leaders finalised the concept notes of their projects & signed the service contracts to officially start implementing.
The YCSLP project is implemented by ALF as part of the EU-funded project @Med_Dialogue led by @DAIGlobal.
The 3rd cohort of our Young Civil Society Leadership Programme Bootcamp has wrapped up in Limassol, Cyprus! 21 Young Leaders from 10 Southern Mediterranean countries came together to enhance their community-based projects on Inclusive Growth and Job Creation for Social Impact.
