What is the shape of Ontario? Some students said it looked like a big leg with a foot, others said it looks like a fish or whale. So creative! Reproducing its shape isn’t as easy as it looks but it’s fun using plasticine! @KanataHighlands
As-tu rempli un seau aujourd’hui ? Today we challenged each other to fill as many buckets as possible. Then we made our own bucket which will get full by the end of June! @KanataHighlands
Today we are going back in time and trying to write with goose feathers like pioneers did in in the 1800s. Not as easy as it looks!! We should have copied “God saves the king” but copying “O Canada” makes it more meaningful for us!

Our custodian is the best!! At a staff party last night we asked if he might be able to go onto the roof to look for a student’s basketball that got roofed. And when we arrived to work this morning, Brian had already gone onto the roof! amazing!!

We explored the forest today to look at flowers, seeds, bark, roots. We even combined our plant unit with our structures unit! Mother Nature didn’t disappoint !! @KanataHighlands
Teaching by example! Showing the students that black bananas are still eatable and tasty, mmmmm! That makes a quick learning during snack time!

This week’s makerspace challenge was to create a new species of trees (link to our science unit). Grade 3s shone in that challenge - we got a chocolate tree, a carnivorous tree, a tree giving out treats and a few other interesting trees. @KanataHighlands@MakerspaceKHPS
Today, we learnt about pysanky, an Ukrainian tradition of decorating eggs for Easter. Merci Matt for providing this rich learning for everyone!! @KanataHighlands
We had the choice of 2 makerspace stem challenges this week: a bunny/egg launcher or a tower strong enough to support the weight of an egg! Some ingenious ideas were found! Bravo les 3e! @KanataHighlands@KHPSMakerspace#ocdsbSTEM
This week, we learnt about Ramadan - Ramadan isn’t just about fasting but also being grateful, generous and kind. We then wrote in our gratitude journal about grateful we are to be living in 2022! @KanataHighlands
