your thirties are SUCH an exciting time because you're still young but have enough emotional maturity not to be a walking embarrassment. you can read whatever you like and no one can stop you. you learn not to be ashamed of the weird interests you had as a kid. you're thriving.
Tänään on #säätiöpäivä ! Olen todella kiitollinen tuesta, jota olen saanut @slsfinland taholta väitöskirjaani varten. Kiitos myös @yliopistosaatio matka-apurahoista. Ilman säätiöiden tukea tieteellinen tutkimustyö jäisi monelta tekemättä!
@okmfi Museoviraston kirjasto on kaikille avoin resurssi oppimisen polulla. Jos näistä resursseista leikataan, leikataan myös sivistyksestä ja tieteen edistyksestä.

Giving the child a poufed up bonnet so she can match her mom's hair is absolutely hilarious and cute at the same time. Image: A portrait of a mother and child by an unidentified artist, circa late 1770s/early 1780s.
@alexandra_makin The bow strings were generally hemp or flax, the bows themselves were usually yew (esp. if we are talking english longbows). If you pop in ”medieval long bow” ”early medieval archery” etc. in to Google Scholar it spits out a good amount of peer reviewed articles on the subject.
Special thanks to the staff at @Beamish_Museum last week for making our rainy day visit so lovely and fun! Everyone was so kind and friendly, I got to see so many new things and felt giddy and delighted all day 😁
I'm so happy to be in such illustrious company! I'll be talking about what I learnt from my #shipwreck textile recreation project at @suomenmerimuseo and what I'd do differently if I could do it all again. Virtual tickets are #free & you can join in from anywhere in the world 🌍
Don't forget to book your virtual ticket to our third 🪡Making Historical Dress🪡 workshop, featuring keynotes from @alka_raman@abbyc_o_x and Rebecca Morrison!

I'll keep saying it till film & tv makers listen: people in the past LIKED COLOURS and art and wanted where they lived to be pretty.
Those boring grey bland medieval castle rooms once were so wild they'd make 1970s hippies think the decorator went a bit over the top.
