-44% of ID programs didn't fill their slots
-80% of US counties do not have a single ID specialist
-ID compensation one of the lowest
At what point does this become a crisis? #IDMatch#IDTwitter
After 3 years of heroic and lifesaving work by our nation’s infectious disease physicians, seeing several tweets from top-notch ID fellowship programs that didn’t fill their match speaks volumes about how screwed up our system of rewarding doctors is.
@SBtotheDub Good points. Murderous clowns in the 18th and 19th centuries led to my being an American descended from 3 different Irish lineages - and to Tasmania being home to my 5th cousins and a beach bearing my family name. Typical diaspora story, but often forgotten.
did you know? 10% of children drown while their parents are watching them. WATCHING them. What looks like jumping in the waves can quickly turn into the telltale bobbing or upright drowning position I experienced today.

Although long-acting CAB/RPV is FDA-approved only for PWH w/ viral suppression, this remarkable case series (new in @CIDJournal) shows it can work also in those with viremia -- where it could be a life-saving intervention. Clinical trials urgently needed. https://t.co/GvBQ0AtEvC

#UTICONF22 definitely has the cutest attendees around! Not pictured, but still heard and appreciated were @AnnStapletonMD's parrots 🦜🦜
Did any of your furry friends stop by to learn about advances in #UTI research? We'd love to see a pic 😍 Tag #UTICONF22
Kristin Bender from the @kidneytweets lab just gave a wonderful flash talk on her project studying the role of insulin resistance on infection susceptibility. Great job, Kristin! #UTICONF22
What a FANTASTIC way to start a conference! Great talk from @ImmunoBladder about immune responses and immune memory in the bladder😍. Thank you, Dr. Ingersoll! #UTICONF22
(And yes, she did show those pictures 😉)
The @CDCgov (which I love) is blatantly misleading the public—CDC tells hospitals about aerosol risks of #monkeypox and need for N95 masks. Yet @CDCDirector deliberately downplays aerosols & masks in messages to the lay public. Shameful.
