@StanCollymore@bottlegreen I produce a small batch gin, the glass bottle I use has gone from being under £1 a bottle to just under £3 in the space of 2 years…300%
@JohnMasonMSP @Overmyheadphoto@leonburton@kingsknollhotel John, that's like mistaking a sunny day in Scotland for a climate change! One portfolio's success is great, but it doesn't overshadow the broader challenges facing the hospitality sector. Bright spots don't equal a sunny forecast for all!
Dear @LornaSlater, the proposed DRS has many flaws, it will be: worse for the environment, limit consumer choice, increase costs & jeopardise Scottish jobs. We urge you to pause and revise the scheme with input from the 'real industry'. Let's ensure this DRS works for everyone."
Again limiting who can reply to this ridiculous tweet to sensor opinion.
Do you think the person that dropped the 'Scheme Article' (which looks like Dragon Soup) is over 18? Do you think an under 18 will take back an alcoholic beverage container? Are they even allowed?
@lornaslater Big corporations like multinational Biffa! Can we discuss how ‘divorced’ you are from the industry that’s supposed to be leading your industry led deposit return scheme?
I’m supposed to sign away @ShipyardGin to the doomed #DRS by today. Despite not being voted in or even having great support amongst greens @lornaslater is still telling everyone to sign up by today even when all 3 prospective FM’s say it should be paused. #depositreturnscheme
Jesus wept. So @lornaslater knows her Deposit Return Scheme needs a UKIMA exemption; doesn’t have one; hasn’t even applied for one; yet demands businesses sign up to the scheme *by tomorrow*? This is clown car stuff.

Is this the future of alcohol advertising?
The Scottish Government are having a consultation on banning alcohol advertising and promotion. This will mean the death of a flourishing craft drinks industry in Scotland. Shipyard Gin and many others would be no more.
13th Feb: @lornaslater says that they have been working with UK Govt to get UKIMA exemption.
22nd Feb: @ScotSecofState says no request has been been made.
So which one is it?
So who is lying @lornaslater? I thought the UKIM had received your application for exemption? Are you simply waiting on UK Gov to step in and take the blame for shelving the scheme when in fact it’s been your shambles from the start? #DRS#depositreturnscheme
@Gypeitcheil@msm_monitor That is all fine and well with a previous system that didn’t have unnecessary complexities on the producers who ran the scheme. You’re likely to see a real world cost of 70p to £2 increase per bottle of which you’ll get 20p back. So like spending £10 to save £2. Great economics.
@BBCRadioScot 100% support a Deposit Return Scheme and anything we can do as an industry to increase recycle rates. This current form of DRS will be a disaster and needs to be rethought and introduced as a UK wide scheme
