Michael Haneke on the type of movies he is interested in watching:
"I'm interested in seeing films that confront me with new things, with films that make me question myself, with films that help me to reflect on subjects that I hadn't thought about before, films that help me progress and advance. Those are the kinds of films that interest me. For me, personally, I think watching a movie that simply confirms my feelings is a waste of time. That applies not only to movies, but also to books and every form of art."
On dit oui !
Jessie Buckley’s upcoming films:

• HOLD ON TO YOUR ANGELS (2027/8) with Paul Mescal

Claude Chabrol on his experience filming "L'Enfer" (1994) & the reason why François Cluzet & Emmanuelle Béart couldn't stand each other at the end of the filming:
"Chabrol: Making 'L’Enfer' (1994) was fun, it was pleasant. I tried to make something personal out of a screenplay which was not originally for me and which I had not originally chosen to do.
Interviewer: Which gives the writing its idiosyncratic style, deliberately stylized.
Chabrol: It would have been hard to do otherwise. There was one thing which I thought was tremendous fun, namely finding as many angles as possible within the confines of a single room. Almost half the film is in that one room. I was delighted with François Cluzet, who is great.
I didn’t want the actors to hate each other too soon. They got on very well. Emmanuelle Béart has lots of energy, she’s very strong. Which meant François could let himself slide a little. Finally, we made it into that damn room, after doing the exteriors. They were in there for three weeks, tearing into each other. In the end, they couldn’t stand each other. Which is logical! Neither would give in to the other. I expect they’ve patched it up since."
(Claude Chabrol's interview with Pierre Berthomieu, Jean-Pierre Jeancolas and Claire Vassé, 1995)
Sean Penn & Dakota Johnson are outstanding together in the 2023 release Daddio. If you’re in need of something easy to digest this weekend, I think you should consider this film, which takes place almost entirely in an NYC taxi cab. The screenplay & acting here is memorable.
CHARLOTTE RAMPLING went from 1960s it‑girl model (she popped up in A Hard Day’s Night) to arthouse icon in films like The Night Porter. One of our most stunning actresses.
