@adampensel I also think there’s an attitude of people just lumping their thoughts about both franchises together- but a young team that just lost 2 of its best players from last season isn’t in the same “win-now” mode as a team with 30-year-old Josh Allen.
@kevin_siracuse I also don’t get the animosity - If people didn’t before the season, people now realize the Pats are a good team- OF COURSE it’s relevant to the Bills what the Patriots do- Yes, the Bills were bad in the Brady years, they never thought us etc, it isn’t like that now.
@kevin_siracuse “The patriots legit just beat you at home”- YES! That’s WHY we had to care about them losing to other teams! 😂 Patriots fans must have just started seeing Bills fans tweets this week if they don’t think we were aware we lost that game 😂
@travisyost I also think pointing out the flaws of the play in front of him just distracts from this point and isn’t that relevant- they are expected to likely be worse than last year, they lost 2 of their best players- this team NEEDS better goaltending now more than last year!
@2ITB_Buffalo@CMDeDominicis The aggregate stat evaluation at some point matters- I don’t care which goals people think he should have saved, pick any of them- also pointing out that the team in front of him isn’t as good as last year isn’t an excuse, they lost 2 of their best players they SHOULD be worse!
@JeremyWGR Am I crazy for getting worried that soon we won’t be able to even make that trade with so few guys playing well? We need tradeable guys that WPG will want as assets and to be able to clear salary needed.
@Matt_Bove Yeah- you also can’t just go by the end game goal totals- it changes the course of the games when he constantly gives up 2 goals early on fewer shots than the other team’s goalie, sometimes the other team will be able to hold on and play well defensively if they have a lead.
@kevin_siracuse I am starting to get concerned that NOW we can’t even make that trade because we don’t have enough guys playing well (aside from a few who we’d never trade) to make a trade that moves out the salary we need while giving WPG the win-now assets they would want.
@Matt_Bove Am I crazy for getting genuinely concerned that NOW we can’t even realistically make that kind of trade because we don’t have enough guys playing well to be able to move out the necessary salary while giving WPG the type of win-now assets they would want?
@kevin_siracuse …AND if the the roster/“cupboard” isn’t talented enough to give up the assets it would take for Hellebuyck, then I would argue that’s partially on him at this point, given you let Tuch walk to have cap room and sat on the space and high draft pick form the Byram trade.
@BillsChatPod And you can correctly argue that those 3 guys didn’t help them much on the contracts that led to that dead cap- but what would we be saying if he let Milano/Taron walk and the Bills had the regression on D they had over the past 3 years?
@TheBillsGuys Of course it’s a cold business so anything is possible- but I don’t ACTUALLY think they will move off Ed given the tragedy he went through- I am purely talking about it from a football standpoint.
@TheBillsGuys I think if they acquire Buckner, given that the young DL have played well, it would be to REPLACE Oliver, not to pair with him. Then I wouldn’t be opposed to either moving off Oliver (unlikely) or just shutting him down- can’t count on him as a regular starter at this point.
@BillsChatPod A good exercise would be for people to think back to the drought years and recall how often fans actually wanted the Bills to trade a quality starter that was likely to be on the team the following season- other bad teams aren’t looking to do that either.
