ESPN’s Michelle Smallmon has the 49ers finishing last in the NFC West:
“They’re going to be in the basement of that division despite having the easiest schedule in the NFL. They are banged up. I know they had five players return to practice but they are banged up. Heading into this season what were they relying on? A youth movement, health, and Brock Purdy to elevate those around him. The health hasn’t been great so far. They’re thin at a lot of positions. I don’t know about the lack of experience a lot of these young guys are gonna be able to get up to speed quickly and last year we saw when Brock Purdy doesn’t have the full complement around him, what happened? A 6-11 season.”
