After last night's discussion and reflecting on the decision to separate extra cosmetics from Skin purchases, I've come to the following conclusions:
1. Move Skin-themed Pins from Player Pins to Brawler Pins.
I don't understand why this isn't already the case. If a Pin is designed specifically for a Skin, it should be categorized as a Brawler Pin rather than a Player Pin.
2. Legendary Skins should look significantly different from the default Brawler.
Think of skins like Cyber Shelly, Jock Stu, or the Mecha skins. Some recent Legendary Skins feel "Legendary" because of the amount of extra work put into them (voice lines, effects, etc.), not because of how unique they actually look. Gray's Legendary Skin is a good example. Visual design should come first, extra features should enhance it, not define its rarity.
3. Stop inflating the number of high-rarity Skins.
Releasing mostly Mythic and Legendary Skins every update (excluding Brawl Pass Epic Skins) only devalues those rarities. Instead of spreading the team's attention across so many expensive Skins, I'd rather see them focus on just one or two Legendary Skins per update and make them exceptional enough to truly justify a 299 Gem price tag. The rest of the Skins should be Super Rare and Epic.. and only a few Mythic Skins, around 2 or 3 per update.
4. Retire the concept of "Vintage Skins"
Right now, it feels like an excuse to avoid updating older Skins with modern features such as custom sounds and other improvements that newer Skins receive. The inconsistency doesn't make much sense and is more confusing than ever for new players.
5. Add a dedicated tab in the Oddities Shop for Skin-themed cosmetics.
Players should be able to purchase the extra cosmetics associated with newer Skins using Bling, as long as the prices remain reasonable.
Another idea would be for the devs to combine both approaches: keep creating extra cosmetics tied to Skins and continue adding features like custom sounds, respawn effects, and everything else they've been improving recently.
That seems like the only solution that could satisfy every side of the debate. If the devs want players to truly see Legendary Skins as legendary, then the amount of effort put into them should be close to what it takes to design a brand-new Brawler. We might be exaggerating a bit here, but that's actually how it works in many other games.. Legendary Skins often have completely different character models.
@Dani_Supercell@FTMKeienburg@omatholiv@MarzioBaca@QuinnBrander@AJfromSupercell We'd really appreciate hearing a response from one of you. At the very least, it would help us understand your current perspective, something we may not be aware of, and lead discussions on social media in a more "productive direction".
