@cmyeaton@ScottGottliebMD I’m in Sydney, Australia and had both the flu and COVID in the last 2 months. Flu was 10x worse, and since I had it really early in the season it got me before I had a chance to get the flu shot.
It’s a terrible season for sure
I read @RayDalio's new book, “The Changing World Order”
in which he claims the US “empire” is in its final stages of decline
Interesting, but with all due respect, he’s wrong.
Here’s why 👇 (long thread 🧵 )
@fundsfocus It’s nice to be right! But it would be nicer if we didn’t have to be, in cases like this 😂
This was the inevitable result, unfortunately for investors
@10footinvestor@tommyr345 This. Very disingenuous to call it “revenue”. But hey, we roll with it. Actual “revenue” from bitcoin for SQ is about 2% of the reported figure.
UK at Jan 2021 covid peak...
59k cases/day, 1,250 deaths/day = 2.12% case fatality rate
UK today...
77k cases/day, 120 deaths/day = 0.15% case fatality rate
Deaths lag cases so today's number is likely to rise but🙏for vaccine + natural immunity substantially lowering severity.
@carlquintanilla I live in Sydney and we used to lock the city down over 2 cases! We spent MONTHS in lockdown this year. I’m very happy with this change in attitude… I can only hope we don’t go back Carl! It was a horrible time. Thanks for shining some light on this.
In South Africa, we’re thankfully seeing a striking decoupling between new Covid cases and ICU admissions and deaths. Whether #Omicron is inherently less virulent, whether this hopeful finding is result of baseline immunity in infected, or a combination of both, is still unclear.
Bloomberg: South Africa Hospitalization Rate Plunges in Omicron Wave - “Only 1.7% of identified Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospital in the second week of infections in the fourth wave, compared with 19% in the same week of the third delta-driven wave” https://t.co/b3hMfwqQBt
Time to get off the Covid treadmill: “After some normality for the past month or two, hey presto, it’s another variant, calls for new restrictions, more demands to “crush” the virus rather than live with it, and the return of the precautionary principle…” https://t.co/YriMvM8O89
This was an important (and hopeful) interview with @ScottGottliebMD : The vaccines might be sufficient to control spread of new Covid variant, https://t.co/JQeQxMElG7
