Our only twitch the Eyebrowed thrush on Yell, understandable as even John had t seen one in the U.K. Our last day took us down towards Spiggie and we lucked in on a Shetland rarity… Canada Goose! Total species seen 93.

Shetland spring 2025 is a wrap. Given the poor winds not a bad haul. Surf Scoter, Rosefinch, Red-backed Shrike, 2 Icky Warbler and 2 Nightjar all self-found. More common migrants; Hobby, 4 Cuckoo, Turtle Dove, 3 Spot Flys, 3 Blackcap, 2 Willow Warbler and 4 Chiffchaff.

Well, they may not be a mega rare bunting but we still managed to find these two beauties today and another Icterine Warbler. Saw only one other migrant, a Chiffchaff in 12 hours in the field

Working locally and had a day off so be rude not to do some birding/twitching. First stop Iberian Wagtail at Angelsey looking the part. Lovely clean white throat. Plenty of small waders off the beach. Then another cheeky twitch of a male Red-backed Shrike.

Red legger day birding the Praslin airport again this morning . Adult Allen’s Gallinule, c11th for Seychelles. Followed by a Black-winged Stilt, 6th for Seychelles! @AdrianSkerrett

The birding week topped on my last day, birding the now notorious Praslin Airport. Hard work walking around the perimeter fence but worth it 100%. 3 description species found (Com Snipe, BH Gull, 4 Sand Martin) and 3 other birds of quality (Amur Flacon, Tree Pipit, 5 Swallow)

A few other rarities found whilst on Mahe, cracking Squacco heron in a cattle egret colony, and around the corner a great egret. Caspian plover found the week before but still present where all Seychelles ticks for me

Found a first for the Seychelles 🇸🇨 today 🥳🥳🥳 well 4 of them. Although arguably the most disappointing first one can find… Gadwall! 😂 Still super happy with this obviously

@Jake_Gearty I’m up to heavy heights of 80! A long way before being in the world famous SEY100 Club. The lack of diversity is a bit depressing! But the numbers make up for it. 2500 Frigatebirds (greater and lesser) around the island at the moment

Decent arrival of migrants to the Seychelles of late. Ortolan Bunting and Redstart both on Praslin are good records. An Osprey was also a Seychelles tick but has apparently been around for a while. Nothing on Aride just yet.

@Gary_D_Woodburn That’s a better list than I’ve managed to rack up so far! Would love to see a needletail over Aride. A few years back we had our first little and pacific swift and I believe one of them was eaten by a Frigatebird!
